Recovery
I am an addict in recovery and I’m transparent about this on my channel. As my channel grows each day I have the honor of learning more and more there are people in recovery, or wanting to be in recovery, who are coming to the channel to seek the safe space of this understanding.
As an addict it’s important to surround yourself with a community of people that will be healthy for you and it’s also important to see that recovery is very possible. I believe adding a recovery tag of some sort will help addicts find these safe spaces. The tag could also encapsulate recovery in many other forms of recovery and if anyone would like to add to this post or piggy back off of it, that would be awesome. I can’t think of the right way to say things sometimes.
Hello everyone! Thank you all for your feedback on this – We’re happy to announce that we’ve added a “Recovery” tag on Twitch!
Please let us know if you’d like to see other tags created in the future. Enjoy the streams!

Recovery and sobriety are different terms. I think of them like this: you can be sober in jail and still not in recovery. You are sober until your next []. You are in recovery when you practice being sober through difficult days.

UPDATE: A SOBER TAG HAS BEEN ADDED! Thank you to everyone who supported this notion and voted here and/ or anywhere else this idea was being petitioned for. I cannot remove this petition turns out. I tried and it said that since other ppl support this idea I cannot delete it, I can only become anonymous to it HAHA I was going to remove it since the goal has been met but I guess twitch staff will have to do that. THANKS AGAIN FOR THE LOVE!

While not an addict in recovery myself, I have several friends and family members who are at different stages in the process. Through the sharing of their individual experiences I know how important it is to have a strong community throughout the recovery process. I would be thrilled to see tag of this sort on Twitch where content creators & viewers can find a safe space.

An important part of recovery is talking about your recovery, helping others, and helping your community. This would be a great way to find new people.
Twitch does need do much better in how they pummel me, 8 years into sobriety, with alcohol ads first. It would be awful for Twitch to add this and not change their alcohol ad algorithm. It would be like plastering alcohol ads outside of an AA meeting location.
Here's where to vote for that:

EDIT:
Which moved to this URL after that previous suggestion got too much traction:

I think this is a GREAT idea. This will help facilitate a safe space by creating expectations of what people can discuss and how we can support one another.
If someone is looking for support or maybe even a digital substitute for NA/AA, they would be able to find safe channels with these tags.
