You've entered tags for gay, black, woman, and many others. Where are the caucasian, hetero, male tags?
If your tags aren't inclusive, you're defining discrimination. I'm thinking the tags aren't going to send the inclusive message you're going for. Is being white straight and male a problem now days? This isn't a joke. One stream can proudly say, lesbian and African American in the tags. One can say safe space and women in the tag. Those aren't seen as noninclusive? So why are tags like "Caucasian" and "heterosexual" seen as any different. One love get back to me. Erase the hate.
I'm all for having tags representing people of different cultures, orientations and ethnicities, but how about having it for everyone?
The excuses of having people using this for racist or hateful intentions are invalid, as they can be reported just as easily as a random streamer not use the tags but have the same malicious intentions. I've seen people from other representations banned for that very reason.
I have no hatred to anyone based on who they are and what they believe in, and yet I'd like to use the tags that define me. Please be inclusive Twitch, I don't think it's fair on the majority of people that would use this tag for non-hateful purposes.
I find it very sexist that you can't add hetero in the tags but everything else is there.
This is just another Murica 'idiocracy' shit.
If you set "white/straight" as default your message is: "white/straight is normal others are strange" OR "everybody besides white/straight have right to show it's identity".
In each case Twitch upset many people.
They think that world IS USA. They are very wrong.
Absolutely important. If Twitch doesn't take this simple step to include all identities in their tagging system, they should take down the "man" tag because otherwise it's just saying women are not discriminated against, only BIPOC and 2SLGBTQIA+ are.
Having everything except these implies that straight and white is “default” and “normal” and that members of the POC and LGBTQIA+ communities are abnormal or weird.
I am white, and I am straight, and I want to be able to express my identity in my tags as other races and sexualities can. I know some transgender people who are white and are also straight, so it limits them too.
Haven't seen the article, but it's not a tag.
The safe place tag was mentioned in the article announcing this initiative.
There is a "man" tag actually, but I agree that it sends the wrong message to not have "heterosexual" and "male" tags. If anything it feels like it sends the message that white and heterosexual are "default" states against which all other demographics are defined, which promotes heteronormativity and "whitenormativity."
Also note that there is no "safe space" tag like you reference. The entire platform is meant to be a safe space.
I saw that too, Caucasian or White are not in the all tags list it seems... Very disturbing.
I don't really see why, for exemple someone in South Africa could want to have tags like "South-Africa" + "White", or someone in eurasia could want "Eurasian" + "White".
I think the only reason is USA political trends that are anti-white supremacists, but Twitch is for the world no ? Not every country has that same hot subjects or problems that USA.
So please consider the world outside the USA and add thoses tags.
