Add multiple sign language tags
I would like to see Twitch add tags for more sign languages. Despite what a lot of people believe. ASL (American Sign Language) is not a universal language for Deaf people.
There is BSL (British Sign Language), NZSL (New Zealand Sign Language) and many, many more!
It can be extremely isolating for those that can only communicate via sign language. And with a place like Twitch constantly bringing people together, just think of the spaces that will become available to Deaf people if these tags are made available to them and how much visibility they will receive as a result.
Hello! Happy to announce that you can now add custom tags to your streams, for a total of ten tags. Custom tags allow you to describe your stream in your own words. For more information, check out our blog post: https://blog.twitch.tv/2022/08/01/custom-tags-discovery-on-your-terms/
Thank you for the suggestion!

I 100% support this.
I myself am not deaf but I would like my friends to have the tags they need to express themselves while streaming on twitch. -

Inclusiveness for all is highly important. Twitch users and viewers should be able to effectively communicate with those around. Everyone deserves a seat at The table. So let's make this possible.

If Twitch can offer tags for different spoken languages, why can’t they offer tags for different sign languages? Seems to be a easy fix that would mean so much.

This is a very simple implementation and would make it so much easier for communities to find each other. No brainer to get happening on the platform.

As being Australian deaf streamer, like others have spoken that ASL is not universal sign language. Australian sign language have their own which is called Auslan (Australian Sign Language). Having Auslan tag would be nice for those Australian deaf streamers out there, not just me.

Deaf streamer, native ASL, and I sometime speak. Many people think ASL is universal SL, which is not. It's like Speaking in English is nearly universal but they have their native language they speak in the country they live in. So yea, It's need more SL tag for every countries for those Deaf/HoH people in their native country. Like Spanish SL, there is a few signs that is different like: Spain, Mex, Argentina. English Sign Language: UK (BSL), NZ (NZSL), AU (AuSL), NA (ASL). And so on you get the idea of the other language if their native country just like having a tag of the language the people speak verbally. I feel like their a proportion of the community (Deaf/HoH) we have is small and not paid attention to than the other community (hearing) that are more focus and more attention. What I mean is, you're putting a language barrier or not letting us having that tags for all Deaf/HoH to identify our SL language instead of just "ASL". Which again, ASL is not a universal language

This would be wonderful to be sure everyone is included.

We have tags for most spoken languages, it doesn't make sense to not have tags for the different sign languages.

An uncomplicated way to increase diversity. Seems like a real no-brainer.

As deaf and native ASL user, I was surprised that only ASL tag was supported. It is not an universal language as some people may believe. I enjoy meeting more international deaf friends and would love it if I can use different SL tags to find them, such as Dutch Sign Language since I reside in the Netherlands and would love it if I could meet more Dutch folks out there. :)

I'm deaf and BSL streamer and I need BSL tag to let people know am fluent in BSL not ASL. Many people think ASL is universal language for deaf people when it is not as there are more than 300 different sign languages in use around the world. Time for it to be change to make it more accessible and bring out more deaf streamers to get more comforable with tag they use on their stream.

As a native ASL user, I been wanting to find more international deaf friends but Twitch only offering ASL language option isn't enough. When Twitch added the d/Deaf and hard of hearing Tags, they should've see what the community were saying about other SL being used cause ASL is obviously not the online sign language and twitch should already be aware that BSL exist too.

I live in the UK and use bsl. Would be really helpful if I could find streamers who use British sign language, it would make twitch so much more accessible to me.

As a deaf streamer that uses BSL, I'm disappointed that sign language tag options are very lacking, there's only ASL available, if I wanted to use a sign language tag for my streams, I'd have to use the ASL tag, but then it would be misleading because I don't use ASL, this needs to change.
