Make umbrella tags like "LGBTQIA+" apply automatically
Already at launch we are seeing how the new 350+ identity tags can fracture communities. Streamers who used to be able to be found using the "LGBTQIA+" tag are opting to use the more specific tags within that spectrum making it harder to find them if you don't know which specific tag to look for.
If a user applies a tag like "trans", "********", "gay", etc their stream should automatically have the "LGBTQIA+" tag applied to it. This change would allow streamers to represent their content through their identity while maintaining the strength of a larger community and increase discoverability for individual streamers rather than reduce it which is what the current system is doing.
If this is implemented it should also not count towards the five tag limit
e.g. I have the tags 'Vtuber', 'Autism', 'Visually Impaired', 'Non-binary', and 'Disabled', so if this were implemented I could replace 'Disabled' with 'Transgender' and get the 'Disabled' and 'LGBTQIA+' tags on top of the five I pick myself (I understand that not everyone who is nonbinary identifies as trans, so the 'Transgender' tag should be something you choose to use along with the 'Non-binary' tag if you want to, not automatic under this proposal).
Uhh, yeah, about that... Uservoice, you got something to tell us?
For the record the"********" is Twitch auto censoring Bi.... That's not a good look...
Please! Also, censoring "********" is a bad look
Please do this.
We definitely need this! I'm Filipino and I'd love for Twitch to automatically add "Southeast Asian" "Pacific Islander" or "Asian" if I add "Filipino" as one of my tags!
