The black community has always deserved representation in every single space that we exist in. There are content creators who feel invalidated because we are unable to find other members of the black community on Twitch, especially during a time that we need to stand as one. The black community deserves representation, validation and acknowledgment. We deserve a black tag so that we can find, communicate and uplift each other.
Please create the black tag.
We have heard your feedback and are really excited to announce that we now have a Black tag on Twitch, along with more than 350 other new tags.
For more information, you can take a look at our blog post at https://blog.twitch.tv/en/2021/05/26/celebrate-yourself-and-your-community-with-350-new-tags/. Please continue to share ideas and feedback you have to UserVoice!

if even a company like uber eats has a “black owned” tag, then twitch needs to get on it and have a black tag!!! 😑
Do it! Black folk need their space and a way to find and support one another.
This would greatly help make black streamers more accessible to the platform and actually let the world see that there are black streamers in the world.
Pro: Visibility for those who want to support us.
Con: Visibility for those who want to harm us.
*Some people: If you don't want to get trolled then don't use the tag.*
Kinda defeats the purpose.
I think whatever works works but consider looking into other solutions. This convo is bigger than what I feel like typing so I'll end it here. lol
I will say though that a safe space is only safe when it's defended and it tends to be the creator's job to do so when all they did is place a tag in their stream.
Don't give us the same exhausted excuse saying "we want to protect blah blah" you're helping the trolls racist xenophobes and bigots instead of us if you don't give us a black tag.
Don't make them wait as long as we've been waiting on a trans tag. Minority groups need representation. Blacktagnow
Just want to remind everyone, we capitalize the B in Black. It identifies our culture, not the color. (Search for articles from The New York Times and others.)
I had some mixed feelings about the ideal of a Black tag initially, but when I saw Peer2Peer Live, it was clear that there's a strong demand for this! We want to discover ourselves, and be discovered. In general I think this is the start of improved discoverability on the platform.
This would be really beneficial, it now takes extra work to manually tag the darkies to filter out, and this would make my experience better thousandfold. Thank you, and thank Allah.
This shouldn't even be a debate... it should already be a thing. Create it, Twitch!
This is much needed. No one really understands why we need our own space with what we have to experience daily
Long overdue. Why is this even a question?
Anyone of any marginalised group deserves the ability to find and support others. Identity IS content, and you, Twitch, owe it to us - the people who make your platform ‘successful’ - to give us the tools needed to thrive. This undoubtedly applies to the black community. Remember Twitch: silence fuels hatred too. Do the bare minimum and create a black tag for the content creators that keep YOU in business.
This is a great idea!
Twitch just had a month dedicated to spotlighting several black creators in lieu of Black History Month. Unless “black” has something to specifically do with the content being made, having a whole tag dedicated to the creator’s race seems superfluous.
Honestly, this idea just reads like a thinly-veiled way to boost low subscriber and view numbers under the guise of “representation” and “finding a community”.
This is a great idea and it's honestly wild that it hasn't been implemented earlier.
This seems like a great idea and something super easy to implement that will have a super positive impact on the community and make twitch more inclusive! Let’s boost the **** out of this!
Let marginalized communities find each other! We're already getting hate as it is, but a tag can help us connect - which is so desperately needed. Thanks for doing this Ace <3
