Add back the Blind Playthrough Tag
Went to stream and usually I will use Blind Playthough to note that a game i'm playing for the first time. This does two things, first I personally like to watch people who are experiencing a game for teh first time, and relive the journey i had through them. Second, It lets my audience know that I'm exploring a game at my own pace, and thats part of the journey and for them not to backseat game.
So its weird to me the sudden removal of it, When its probably one of the more useful ones.
Hello! Happy to announce that you can now add custom tags to your streams, for a total of ten tags. Custom tags allow you to describe your stream in your own words. For more information, check out our blog post: https://blog.twitch.tv/2022/08/01/custom-tags-discovery-on-your-terms/
Thank you all for the feedback!

Yes, please being this back. First playthrough is NOT the same as Blind Playthrough, and I'm pretty sure the only people complaining about "blind" being ableist were just virtue signalling. I'm fairly certain 99% of actually blind/visually impaired people don't care. Does that mean "walkthrough" is ableist?

I agree. I used this tag to indicate to my viewers the specific activity I was doing. Blind playthrough is a very common activity on twitch just like speedrunning or casual.

@elziiTV Blind playthrough and First Playthrough are not the same thing. I could say RE8 is my first playthrough, but it's not blind as I've watched my friends say it. Basic concepts you failed to understand.

I'm visually impaired and had no problem with the 'blind playthrough' tag. What's next, I need to get annoyed at the term 'blind date'? How about 'double-blind study'?

I would agree with this idea, whilst I believe ensuring appropriate visibility/tags for the blind community should be available, blind playthrough is different to first playthrough and flexibility to demonstrate that in content discoverability is important too.

@eLziiTV Didn't ask to add something, it was a request to bring it back. The fact both a Blind Tag and a First Playthrough Tag existed before should tell you that they exactly mean two different things. I fail to see why such a change was needed in the first place, since playing a game Blind is a well known term.

Those are not the same thing. A Blind Playthrough is one without any prior knowledge or influence. A First Playthrough is simply the first time one actually plays the game.

There is a tag for 'First Playthrough' which means the exact same thing. Adding 'Blind Playthrough' would be moot at this point.

All I play on Twitch are Blind Playthroughs... the word "blind" (adj) has two meanings... Ignoring one is immature. Removing them was insensitive to others. IMO.

There has been an uproar from a select number of people on various Social Media sites about the use of the "Blind Playthrough", saying that it should be removed because it's offensive.
This is NOT True.
A "Blind Playthrough", relates to playing a game without known a single thing about it. Watching zero footage including gameplay, walkthroughs, previews, etc., I.E. We're going in blind.
The Blind Playthrough tag was in no way offensive to anyone and is being misinterpreted as such, by people who either know nothing about video games or the video game communities. For reference, a "First Playthrough" refers to a game that the player has seen footage of or in-game content from a third party.
By tagging Blind Playthroughs as First Playthroughs, a streamer is legit mistagging their own streams. The two terms are not interchangeable.
You got trolled Twitch. Please bring the tag back.

Agreed, no point in removing it. All this did was cause confusion amongst people and end up giving a few people who suggested removing it a pat on the back.
