Unmerge All Remakes in the Directory
With a recent update, Twitch merged all remakes of games in the directory with its original game for whatever reason. Now remakes of popular franchises such as Legend of Zelda, Resident Evil, etc. are all fighting over visibility in the same directory. This is also a problem for remakes of games that have completely different names from its original game, such as Kirby Nightmare in Dream Land, the remake of Kirby's Adventure for NES released on GBA, who's directory is now completely gone because ????
I don't understand what the point of this change is. There was absolutely nothing wrong with remakes having their own game in the directory before, and now people who want to watch the remake of a game have to scroll through streams of the original game to find someone streaming the remake! Not to mention everyone following the remake on Twitch have to now follow the original to hopefully find people streaming the remake, which is just asinine. Furthermore, you can still stream to the directory of the remake, but it won't show up when you search the game itself any more. Seriously, who does this benefit? Remakes are the same game but entirely different in function and modernized at the time for a new audience. They are not supposed to be 1:1 with the original game, but merging the two games together like this says that you think otherwise in my eyes. What's next? Getting rid of the Crash and Spyro remake trilogies because there's directories for Crash and Spyro 1-3 already?
Twitch, I'm begging you, please reverse this change. As a speedrunner, visibility in the directory is everything, and now anyone who speedruns a remake will be getting less of it because they'll be fighting for it all in one category. I really just do not see the logic behind doing this at all, and I hope my reasoning makes sense here to whoever can make the decision to reverse it.

Update: we are now able to support a handful of new game types from IGDB, including remakes, remasters, expanded games, and forks – all new game types that have been introduced on IGDB (see the updated documentation at https://github.com/twitchtv/igdb-contribution-guidelines/wiki/Type)
This means that we can now restore nearly all of the titles that have been reported missing in this suggestion, and we are working to do so!
Thank you for your feedback and patience! We will close this suggestion for now, but please feel free to open new suggestions if there are additional games that you find are missing!

The Ninja Gaiden Black category has been removed from twitch which is detrimental to the NGB community for obvious reasons. Please restore it.

Merged? All the followers from Disciples III: Reincarnation are GONE. My past broadcasts and clips were left with no category :/ I cannot assign a new category to my old clips

I'm a resident evil 2 remake speedrunner and it is frustrating having the OG RE2 as the category. Those games are completely different, why on earth did twitch think that this was a good idea?

Pokémon Red and Blue have also been split. These are practically the same game and are treated as such on all categories on Speedrun.com.

There are many people who would like to see the retro versions of these games. You need to unmerge them so that viewers can find the content they want to see.

Even though remakes are tecnically coming from an original version, they are different games at the end of the day. They work very dufferent if you look at the speedrunning side of things and generally makes it for the viewers worse if they want to view a specific version of a game. It's not making anything "cleaner", it only creates unneccecary confusion.

Not to mention the fact that they merged some categories into THE WRONG GAMES. Now all the Touhou directory has is a game that isn't even made by the guy who makes the OG games...

Bring back remake categories for Zelda games, they are different games and finding speedruns for each game is now more difficult for no reason.

These two games are far different from one another and that warrants a separate category. Truthfully, the two games can be compared, but they are different and should be treated as such.

Absolutely keep the categories separate. The games are different games entirely and have different communities surrounding them. Some people play one, some the other. Sometimes both, but regardless, it should go back to the way it was. Separate.

Yes please!
I still stream CTR:NF every weekend and will be doing so for a long time. I would like to not have any confusion between the two titles while doing so.

Recently, many categories were removed in order to reduce category clutter, including categories for games that were remakes/reboots, and extended editions of games. Crash Team Racing: Nitro Fueled is a remake of the original Crash Team Racing, so it was caught in the crossfire. However, this game is not just a remaster of the original game, and is very much different, not just in fundamental mechanics of the game, but also in that its primary attraction is online multiplayer, which the original does not have. Instead, the original CTR is mostly relegated for speedrunning streams, or simply nostalgia live let's plays.
It is worth keeping the 2 games separated simply due to the fact that those that are searching for Nitro Fueled streams are typically not interested in seeing the original CTR, and vice versa. -

Please separate the Resident Evil 1, 2 and 3 categories back to how they were. There was NOTHING wrong with how they were and now we all in the same directory with remakes and originals and its destroying small streamers on discoverability because we need these niche games to grow.

We used to have both Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut and Sonic Adventure 2 Battle available, but now there is only Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure 2. Those games are entierly different, they came from the Dreamcast, which not only have graphic differences, but also features and content.
Streamers lost game title from their videos, highlights and clips. Viewers also used to follow SADX and SA2B and not the other ones, this makes a bad impact for visibility. Please consider adding SADX and SA2B back.

In an update today (Yesterday?) to categories, several remakes of popular games (Mostly noted of "The Legend of Zelda" series for myself) were removed/consolidated to their original Title's Category. I stream in both "The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker" along with it's HD remake. From a gameplay perspective they are quite different, with HD offering different QoL perks, and from a speedrunning perspective they're so different the routes are even recognizable.
Although I can understand the desire to consolidate categories, a sub-category tag would be nice. For example if I selected "The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker" as my category, it would give me the option to select "Gamecube Edition" or "WiiU Remake", and then that option as a filter to the viewers. This would help significantly to those who use the categories.

This category was deleted today (September 22nd 2020) suddenly. In a tweet from Twitch Support, they reported that some categories have been "renamed, consolidated, duplicated, or split." This does not seem likely, as the category was correctly named and no alternate versions have been found. If this category has been considered "consolidated" with Super Mario 64 (1996), then I (representing the SM64DS community) would like to make it clear that this is a mistake as the two games are fundamentally different and the viewer base of the 2 games is not common. The category almost always has a stream every day if not more than one; it is not a large community but it is active. New glitches are being found weekly and speedrunners actively run the game, and many people stream the game for a casual playthrough looking for all 150 stars or to play the minigames (especially unique to the DS version of Super Mario 64).
Thanks in advance for re-adding the only 3D game where you can play as Wario (and Yoshi alone)
