Split Sonic the Hedgehog (1991) from Sonic the Hedgehog (2006)
For the entirety of the time on Twitch, speedrunners and casual gamers alike have had numerous bouts of confusion over the shared category that these two very different games hold in unison. Due to this, many people have entered streams of one game expecting the other, and it has been a nuisance for several marathons. We are asking that the 16-bit Genesis title from 1991 be separated from the Xbox 360/PS3 title from 2006, with different cover art so that people can clearly understand which game is which.
We're suffering from a similar case with Ratchet & Clank (2002) and Ratchet & Clank (2016). Voted on this, cause we get your struggle sonic players.
The series started and ended in 2006. I'm not sure why we share the category with some spinoff game. Split 'em up already.
SPLIT THE GAMES!
It's so stupid that this already isn't a thing. These games need to be split.
This definitely needs to be a thing. People shouldn't have to use a 1991 game to stream Sonic 06, this doesn't make any sense.
100% agree, there are quite a lot of people that stream 06. In addition, the 06 streams should not be mixed with Genesis gameplay and fangame streams which should be under the series category.
In addition, separate these two from a general "Sonic the Hedgehog" category. There are three instances of "Sonic the Hedgehog" on Twitch's category system, so making one a general category for the series, one the release from 1991 (both 16-bit and 8-bit), and one the release from 2006 would be best.
You know it's an issue when someone comes in your chat and says "oh I was expecting the other game"
