Multi language tag on stream dashboard (more than 2 or 3 if possible)
Many people in the world i believe mostly at least bilingual, or even rarely some people speak Trilingual and Multilingual, so in the dashboard let us for streamers to choose what language are we broadcasting. For example "English" and "Chinese or "Korean" and "English" or even rarely maybe? "English" + "Korean" + "German"
Though we have not yet added support for multiple language tags, we have added more than 350 new options that we think may help out with this particular ask.
For more information, you can take a look at our blog post at https://blog.twitch.tv/en/2021/05/26/celebrate-yourself-and-your-community-with-350-new-tags/. Thank you for your feedback and ideas!
We will leave this topic open for now for further discussion around whether this meets the needs of the request.
it would be really cool
it would be really cool
I agreed, I think it would improve the community at all!!!
We should have the ability to set more than 1 language in the stream tags. Without the option, streams have to use their title to show they are multilingual, which takes up space in the title and would look cleaner in the tags. With tags being filterable, it would also help with discovery of channels. As a primarily English speaker that mods for a streamer that primarily speaks Portuguese, I would have never found their channel if I hadn’t know them before twitch because their stream is only tagged as Portuguese. They are often asked in stream if they speak any other languages, which could be easily answered by multi language stream tags before a person enters the stream. We love the diversity that already exists in the channel, but without a proper way the show that streamers can speak multiple languages, further growth from non-Portuguese speaking viewers is limited.
Let us choose multiple lang filters while browsing twitch, exmp: FIN/ENG so i see only Finnish & English streamers.
Add to Tags the ability to chose 2+ languages in a different way we select the game tags (separate field) .
For 2/3 language known streamers the ability to select only the main language is kind of poor
It would help a lot to people who are from another countries and speak two languages to be able to show their native language and their secondary language to be discover by more people.
just the title basically.
as a person who's interested in watching streams in more than 1 language my only options are either not picking any language at all or checking available channels for each language separately, which is kinda annoying
it would be really nice if you could made it possible to choose more than 1 language with 'or' operation between them cuz for now it just doesnt show any streams PepeHands
I would like this system very much.
A large amount of people who can speak more than one language are active streamers. These people tend to put in their title that they can speak these languages, but these streams do not show up when the average user uses the language filter to find a stream to watch.
My idea is to have a second selection under the language drop down menu titled "additional languages" so that the streamer can select any or all of the languages that are relevant to them, thus allowing them to be found with the language filters active.
Hi guys, this is probably a purely subjective case that I present, but at the same time I'm sure I'm not the only bilingual streamer out there.
So, I decided to try and bring together a logical post about how and why allowing streamers to be listed in two different languages is helpful to those streamers.
First: The Problem.
Streaming in one language and one language only is restrictive to bilingual streamers. People who want to increase their audience are forced to choose only one language, and viewers can't discover them.
Here's an example of what I'm talking about by browsing the overwatch section, in Chinese and once more, in English. Let's use a bilingual streamer that speaks both Chinese and English as an example. That streamer is forced to be listed in one language's directory or another. The streamer cannot be listed in both language's directories.
Second: Being discovered.
I streamed in English today for the first time. Let's compare this to the day before where I streamed in Chinese.
Today's stream (listed in English directory) - https://imgur.com/h6RnN8e
Stream from Wednesday (listed in Chinese directory) - https://imgur.com/jCnMGSA
For both of these streams, I was physically at Computex - a trade show that is comparable to Consumer Electronics Show, but this takes place every summer in Taipei. These two screenshots conclusively display that when I stream in English, I have less viewers, when I stream in Chinese, I get more. But maybe half of my viewers come from the browse page.
The solution: Allow users to list themselves in a maximum of two language directories on Twitch. The reason why I am against using more than two language tags for a streaming session is because this could be abused to be listed in pretty much every language section.
If a streamer is lying about being bilingual and enough reports flow in, then I suggest that the community managers of a region be able to take away their bilingual tags.
Finally, how do we define "bilingual"? I have an undergraduate degree in Chinese language and literature and I speak a little Korean, but I wouldn't call myself "functional" in Korean, but of course I wouldn't be against a sort of "closed beta" program where twitch admins allow users to individually apply for bilingual streamer permissions. Faker would qualify, ToyZ would qualify, S1mple and a lot of CS:GO streamers would qualify for this. I guess it would be logical for Twitch as a website to restrict bilingual listings to only affiliates and partners for the time being. This would theoretically limit abuse of the system by limiting this to a smaller pool of streamers.

Example: I am Dutch and want to talk in Dutch & English on stream.
Please add an ability to pick 2 languages instead of one so i people can find me in both languages
I hope to Streaming by 2 and more languages.
but Twitch just only can choose one language for streaming.
how about make a multi-language streaming system
for global users?
Lots of streamers are speaking more than one language. They have to put sth like [ENG/FR] or whatever in their title. Unfortunately you are only able to choose one language which makes filtering/being found by viewers through filtering much more difficult than it has to be. I don't think that is a hard feature to add and it would make the twitch experience much more enjoyable for so many people - streamers and viewers alike =)
