create categories for ur own following channels
wanna group the following channels with my own browsing preference (e.g. by games, by teams etc), since it's hard to locate/browse them when I am following 100+ channels...

Do this Twitch. I use a browser extension that does that and since I installed it I've been following A LOT more streamers cause I know I won't miss when my favorite ones are live, even if they have a low viewer count, cause they show up at the top of the list. It would be great to have that on mobile as well with an official implementation of this feature.

I would enjoy having the ability to create and manage my followed list into various categories. I certainly have a preference of what channels I like to watch regularly versus others that I watch occasionally or very rarely when there's almost no one else on. And it would be nice to be able to sort that as right now I actively avoid following people because I don't want to clutter my list and have a bunch of noise.

Hello Twitch staff or whoever,
Just a suggestion or an idea maybe you can explore. (not sure if it's already somewhere here but here's it).
As some viewers follow a whole lot of streamers, with different types of streamer (league of legends, world of warcraft, valorant, just chatting, etc)
Maybe there is a way to click and drag different viewer into different catergory that can be set by users?
eg. Creating 3 category of streamer that I follow, (LoL, WoW, Valorant) and drag the streamer into a category with a collapsible menu.
This way, when I come onto twitch and feel like watching a particular type of content, I can instantly click instead of scrolling through 50+ followed channel to see which is which.
As for a streamer, this can also help them categorize their "teams" or a list of people they can raid/host before they end their streams. This way streamers have a simple way to see who they can raid at the get-go from a list instead of having to check if they're currently online and streaming.
just a suggestion! :D

favorite or pin channels in a private list on the top would be nice, I follow a ton of channels but love to favorite, my cousin, or friends.

having an option to favorite or pin channels in a private list or to the top, would be amazing

I was thinking it'd be cool to be able to categorize channels you follow so they appear under sections on your following page. Could add a "+" button next to the follow button on a channel to add them to/create categories.
Then on the following page you could have for example a "Regulars" section for channels you visit all the time, then ones for "GTA RP", "Valorant", "just chatting" etc etc.
It'd be an easier way for someone to get straight to what content they want to watch out of the people they follow. And the user decides what categories they want to make and who goes in what category.

I was about to suggest this. Organization isn't a new idea but Twitch appears to be behind on this.
Have a feature to organize/create categorizes as we see fit. Also allow us to show our categorizes/lists public or private.
An auto unfollow would also be nice, such as if person doesn't stream for 3 months unfollow them. Of course the amount of days is set by the user.

Add folder options to your following list both on the separate page as well as the sidebar. Similar to folders to group your servers in Discord.
This would help users follow more channels and group them based on content/custom categories that they are looking to view when they are on Twitch. This also helps support smaller creators as if you are more integrated with a community you could have a folder specific to those creators that you chat with often and they wouldn't get lost in the sidebar to streams with a higher view count.
Ideally, users could come up with custom folder names, select the color of the folder as well as pick a emote that could be the "icon" for that folder.

I literally came here to write this exact idea and lo and behold it's the top one in the category. The ability to sort streams into our own defined folders would be amazing.

Yes please! I've been wanting this for so long. I follow so many channels, but can only watch one at a time so I jump between them through time. This means that at some point, I see a name and forget who they are or why I followed them.
It would be so useful if I could categorise them myself so that i know why I followed them in case they happen to be playing something else next time I see them.
Unfortunately, without this feature it actively RUINS and HURTS discovery because I find myself going on an "unfollow-spree" every now and then to clean out any channels I no longer remember who or why i followed them. Which also leads to me losing contact with old friends who may have changed their name or something, meaning I will almost NEVER find them again.

it would be great to be able to organize the channels we follow and put them into folders or self made catagories and sort them in the order we want when they are live.

Instead of organizing the followed channels by viewers only. Allow each stream to be apart of a folder group. Folder groups allow you to see the group you assign that person to, such as Twitch Partners, Twitch Affiliates, Twitch Streamers or custom entries such as "Streamers that always have 5,000+ viewers" or "Stream Team - Drip Squad" or "Stream Team - Moonlit Yakuza" or "Phantom Society Friends".
Allow a page where you can place that allows you to automatically drag and drop say a stream team into the folder or allow you to manually check a checkbox next to names for certain folders to be added with ease.
Perhaps when hovering over the name. Allow the browser to open a window after 3 seconds to show that person's profile page, viewers, followers, LIVE/not LIVE, stream team info, etc.
In addition to the folders, let there still be a viewer count next to the folder name. Which counts the total amount of viewers inside the folder. Folders should be expandable and collapsible on the side panel to allow ease of access.
Lastly and most importantly, I think there should be a category in the folder system where you can add and remove filter options also. This should include:
Channels inactive for 1 week, 1 month, 6 months, 1 year.
Game Category Lists
Friends List
Total Stream time within last day, 2-6 days, last week, last month to give an analytic approach on how much uptime people have.
This could also reflect average view counts/sub counts and such that reflect on twitchtracker.comA quality of life improvement such as this is well needed on a platform like this, but I suggest a smooth basic system to manage this and to not be so clunky would be ideal and user friendly.

Add a way to sort/order followed channels with custom categories. The system can be simple to classify them only or we can also imagine a system to manage notification rules by "channel categories".

On a users left hand followed channels list It would be cool if we were allowed to hover over a random streamer with our cursor and see a muted live view of the stream to see if we want to click in at that moment or not. Idk just a random thought.

When you start to follow more channels it becomes a messy experience. You forget the channel name so you have to look through the whole channels following list which is not fun to do that's for sure or when you look through who is on live it's also not fun to keep scrolling through everything to find your favourites or what you feel like watching at the time.
Why can't there be like an add stars l/ favourites feature to channels we enjoy the most at present so that those channels are always at the top of our lists and at the top of the Following - Live section as well. This at minimum would be amazinggggg! Obviously, we should be able to add and remove stars as our interest changes. If you want to be fancy this is something you could report back to streamers - how many people have starred their channel as favourites etc.
Then secondly if it could automatically break down into categories at least in the Following - Channels section or that we can create our own folders. So we can tag and put some channels in Music, some IRL, some in Gaming and so forth. That way if we want to watch "X"or a particular category we can easily sort through who is live at the time or find the channel we are after when offline for vods.
It kind of makes you unfollow channels just to keep your Following - Live section clean of what no longer interests you right now and that's drastic because maybe you would watch again later if you could sort it better.
