Make Art/Creative its own directory
Hi all! We really appreciate all of the wonderful feedback and passion surrounding this topic. Reading through the comments, we wanted to clarify one point that may have caused confusion:
The purpose of this experiment with new directories is intended to better highlight broad groupings of content by bringing them together in directories where they wouldn’t be in direct competition with each other, increasing their exposure. In this way, creative content stands to have better exposure by being separated from gaming, etc. We will know better once the experiment concludes and we’re able to review the data in full.
That being said, through your feedback, we also recognize that the broad naming of the category as “IRL” doesn’t acknowledge that Creative and IRL content are distinct. We will be evaluating the results of the experiment to determine how we can continue to best support communities’ growth, while ensuring we are recognizing their unique qualities. Please continue to share your thoughts and ideas around this topic!
Art is important as well if we didn't have art we wouldn't have most of the things we do today like videogames or movies.
Discover ability as an artist on twitch is difficult already. Don’t make it worse. Most people think that twitch is a gaming app. Us creators have busted our ***** trying to change the narrative on what twitch is ACTUALLY like. There are many diverse groups of people and communities. The art community needs its own niche. Leave us as our own category!!! It’s hard enough finding each other as it is. Don’t make it worse.
Lumping art streams in with IRL twitch thots? Really?
Roll it back into Creative if anything, don't bury all the art streamers into a category filled with trash.
if you are going to lump us with anything put us in a "creative category" along with makers and crafters and music. IRL is not a good fit and personally it will make it extremely difficult to find other creators. Please reconsider this decision
Creative and/or Art/Illustration needs it's own category because Twitch artists need that discoverability. It's not a viable decision to lump every 'misc' category into IRL and it will lose you, not only plenty of the art streamers but their viewership and subscription money.
Lumping stuff into IRL and increasing concentration on gaming sounds like contracting instead of expanding to me, which, in turn, sounds like a really disconnected business decision, especially considering the popularity of streaming right now. Maybe step back and relate this to the future of your bottom line? Why be a game-streaming service when you can be the go to for user-created streams, period?
Everything they do is seemingly intended to destroy the Art/Creative community on Twitch. With every change they make, they make it more and more clear that they only want Twitch to be about gaming streams and nothing else, and they seem to be doing everything they can to ensure that everything else is forced off the platform.
If that isn't their intent then they need to look at how all the recent changes have affected nongame streamers and realise that whether intentional or not, that is how it appears.
There needs to be a Creative category to help people find creative/art streams.
Make Art/Creative a legit category.
Discontinue IRL as it offers literally nothing of value to the Twitch community as a whole.
There's no reason to stream here if Twitch ain't helping ppl to find my stream lol
rename Music to Creative directory. How does Twitch consider Digital Art as IRL? It has nothing to do with being in real life. Each time Art has been neglected by any changes the Art community has been dealt a massive blow in viewership. The last time Art was refactored, large streams turned into medium streams. We even saw the death of some prominent artist's streams... Just say no to IRL. It is bad enough the platform has been a buggy pile of a website exponentially more and more over the years, the DMCA strong arming and ignoring giant streamers acting heinous... You all need to seriously take into account the voice of the public now more than ever.
Coming from the makers and crafter, I did not like streaming under IRL. I had a lot more trolls in that category. Please do not take away our safe space. As a woman I have to deal with trolls everywhere and this was a place I could stream safely with out having to always worry about creepers coming in to ruin my stream.
why go through the process of having so many different areas for people to express themselves & selection to choose from when looking for stuff just to them lump anything creative under "IRL"?...WtAF Twitch? that makes no sense whatsoever.
Are you gonna lump every single game under "Video Game" now too?...How about Music? where does that fit into this new category scheme? "IRL"? "Music"? "Digital Media"?
How about "Fitness& Health"? does that get scooped into "IRL" as well? what exactly constitutes "IRL" on a digital streaming platform when ALL OF IT IS DIGITAL, & STREAMING, & NOT IN PERSON?...
How does this help people find what they're looking for? it defeats the purpose of having categories in the 1st place. if I'm interested in looking for Art streamers how am I going to find that new person who's art might be EXACTLY what I want to see if it's buried in a pile labeled "IRL" instead of a smaller sampling labeled "Art"? several of the streamers I now follow & try to catch as often as I can I found through the smaller categories where they had a chance of coming up in someone's search results.
Creative streamers - Artists, 2D, 3D, Hard Surface, Organic, Sculpters, Traditional, Game Developers and Programmers should have their own category on this platform.
IRL is not Creative and Creative is not IRL, they are ENTIRELY different areas of scope, stop trying to merge them in to one, it is unfair on streamers and you will lose a lot of income when people abandon your platform due to your own negligence.
Art/creative streams are basically the only reason I watch Twitch at all. Make it easy for art communities to band together and thrive.
Yeah, if they did this I'd stop watching Twitch. I don't go to Twitch for gaming streams at all. I watch art streams/3d art streams, game dev and that's it. I'm not going to go through hundreds of IRL streams to find content that I actually enjoy. It's not worth it.
Yes! DO IT!
Artists: makes new things
Twitch: but what does it do?
Artist: I made it so its original content
Twitch: but games tho
Let Art have it's own Category. Artists are getting the support they deserve on Twitch rather in the real world. Don't do this. Don't be those kind of people.
