Make Art/Creative its own directory
Hi all! We really appreciate all of the wonderful feedback and passion surrounding this topic. Reading through the comments, we wanted to clarify one point that may have caused confusion:
The purpose of this experiment with new directories is intended to better highlight broad groupings of content by bringing them together in directories where they wouldn’t be in direct competition with each other, increasing their exposure. In this way, creative content stands to have better exposure by being separated from gaming, etc. We will know better once the experiment concludes and we’re able to review the data in full.
That being said, through your feedback, we also recognize that the broad naming of the category as “IRL” doesn’t acknowledge that Creative and IRL content are distinct. We will be evaluating the results of the experiment to determine how we can continue to best support communities’ growth, while ensuring we are recognizing their unique qualities. Please continue to share your thoughts and ideas around this topic!
You are indeed putting art and creatives in 'direct competition' with unrelated things, so undermining your own supposed goal.
Than you for not caring.
Creative streamers: "Stop lumping us in with IRL and give us our own category."
Twitch PM: "Okay, I hear ya, but what if we just rename the IRL category instead?"
Translation: “We don’t actually care what you think and we are going to go ahead with this stupid idea anyway.”
Artists and Creators deserve just as much exposure and support as any other streamer! They are just as necessary and integral to the streaming community, please don't count us out!
eSports, Games, IRL, Music, Creative. Those top-level categories highlight the variety of Twitch, add variety to the site's offerings, and at least superficially present the site as more than just games, which is great for expanding the advertising base.
With "Creative" highlighted akin to how Music currently is, the category will grow and you will *genuinely* have something to offer advertisers besides gamers watching games and interested in game ads.
If you get rid of makers and crafting or the art category, its going to dive the platform and shun the ones that do what we love.
You need to keep the Creative category. It would be a big lose for the art community. please reconsider it !
When I first started streaming there was a Creative category which has since gone away and it's been really frustrating. There are a lot of us that do multiple creative things - in my case, I stream Art, Writing, and Gaming. The Creative category covered all of it...
I'd like to see three things:
Bring back Creative.
Add Writing. The "writers" one has no icon and is insufficient. And there are a LOT of writers here.
I love artist, I love the imagination and creation that artist do. For me I love seeing this as entertainment as well. Art is in all things entertainment.
stop treating art/creative like the outcast of twitch and start showcasing and spotlighting them. i remember when twitch had the two separate directories for gaming and then creative. it needs to stop being swept to the side. you'd probably get even more artists to stream on your platform if you showed them some love. why we're shoved and buried into the IRL category is beyond me..
The creative community on twitch is one of the friendliest and most welcoming community that i have ever came across. We all know and share the struggles, the joy and everything in between.
And for a community to survive, we need a creative category, otherwise we'll drown in the noise that comes from something so broad as "IRL".
Putting art/creative in IRL is like putting all First Person Shooter games in one category and so on.
Instead of putting art and other creative sections like Makers and crafting, cooking, etc under IRL, give us back the "Creative" category.
please Twitch, don't give up on us artists. Please don't make us give up on you.
The content between art/creative and IRL is too different to be put in the same place, how am I supposed to find the creative streamers among all that (to me) junk?
Please allow creative streamers and artists to stream in a Creative/Art category, instead of being lumped into IRL or any other 'miscellaneous' category.
Definitely! It's inhumane.
"IRL" means absolutely nothing to me as a directory - it's way, way too broad. A simple "Art" and/or "Creative" directory added on ( esp. considering that you've got "Music" already in there) would solve this.
Having the reruns of bob ross or other should be in the arts consept either. It's a tv show rerun. Not live.
There's nothing I can add here that hasn't already been said by other users. Not all creative things are IRL. Bring back the Creative Directory!
Artist r a big part of twitch and its hard to fined them with ought knowing them already. So, they need there own tab! I also feel that vtuber should be a tab as well. There r so many vtubers and to have a tab ware you could fined all of them would be sooooo helpful!!! Specially with how fast they’ve popped off in such a short time. They r continuously growing in numbers, so they need there own tab as well!
I feel like in order to get more artists to use Twitch, you need to make a space for them. It's hard to find artists that way without having its own space. If IRL and music has its own deal, so does art
Theres no reason to take away something that already worked. "Art/ Creative" worked, "IRL" does not.
I honestly don't mind an IRL category but not all art fits under IRL, so where would you put digital painting, 3D modeling, pixel art?
