Disabled tag request
Disabled gamers often face more or different hardships than abled streamers do. There are so many amazing users on Twitch who are disabled, and they deserve a "disabled" tag. Disabled streamers need a way to find each other and weave our communities together, and disabled viewers need a way to find streamers they want to watch and connect with.
Hey All!
We’re really excited to share that not only have we added a “Disabled” tag, but we have also added more than 350 other tags to Twitch. If you feel we missed anything pertinent, please let us know.
For more information, you can take a look at our blog post at https://blog.twitch.tv/en/2021/05/26/celebrate-yourself-and-your-community-with-350-new-tags/. Please continue to share ideas and feedback you have to UserVoice!

This industry disproportionately disadvantages disabled creators because it relies on algorithms that favor grinding/consistency. I know that is not inherently Twitch's fault but they could show support for creators by making it easier for us to find creators like us to be in community with. We get hate regardless so please give us the agency to decide if we want to use a tag and moderate our spaces accordingly. Thank you!

This tag needs to exist! I don't understand why Twitch doesn't see that visibility, representation, and accessibility matter a great deal, especially on their service. TWITCH please stop ignoring marginalized and under-represented communities, listen to their voices and take action on their calls!

I definitely think this tag should exist.
I do worry about targeted harassment as I know it happens a lot in the LGBTQIA+ tag but as someone with ADHD and chronic pain it would mean a lot to find other people who are chronically ill and/or neurodiverse.
Especially as not everyone will read the about section on a channel profile so they may not understand schedule inconsistency or things we may struggle with that can sometimes affect our gameplay or the stream itself.
Also if we want to talk and share our experiences with our disabilities then the tag is there. But whether twitch will give it to us after people have been asking for so long. We'll see.

Twitch hasn't even commented on this yet.
So many people have been asking for many years now.

There is another one here to vote on which has been going longer with more votes: https://twitch.uservoice.com/forums/310210-discover-browsing-and-searching/suggestions/41308393-disabled-tag-request
Twitch staff: here’s a link to a two petitions for it with almost 2k votes on one and over 1.5k on the other for a disabled tag!
Please take note. We have been asking for years for this tag!

Will disabled streamers ever get their own category or tag? I know the argument has been made that we shouldn’t have one due to harassment risk but that implies the stereotype that we as disabled people can’t handle it ourselves and that twitch wouldn’t uphold such behavior under their new harassment policy. We are a marginalized community and deserve our own tag not only to connect with each other but to allow others to see streamers that look like and live like them.

This is a great idea, Tho a single tag is a little limiting it would be a great start, I have a cronic/invisiable illness as do many others, being able to reachout to other streamers as well as viewers being able to find a community that understands the struggles they are dealing with would be fantastic.

i would love this! I feel like because my disability effects the way I stream (micless due to being semiverbal autistic) it would be especially helpful.

I think this is a great idea especially since we have such a large chronic illness community. Disabilities come in many forms and I feel this will help connect people who may be looking for understanding and community. This will also help users to see that streamers of all forms are welcomed and included.

To respond to the last comment: The amazing thing about tags is you aren't forced to use them. If you don't want it then don't use it, there are thousands of us who have been asking for this for years.
People search the lgbt tag to find others they can relate to, this tag would serve the same purpose for those that opt into it.

honestly i have disabled in my name why do i need a symbol and what is that going to do if we have a symbol i think that would bring more of a problem than help trolls people giving a negative reaction to the symbol so i don't think its a good idea

Please add this! It is so powerful having a community of people who understand the experiences you've gone through. Being able to find the disabled community online has been incredibly healing and positive for me, and we are fully capable of moderating our communities and getting assistance. We have auto moderator tools from twitch too, please trust us to be able to use the tools you've given us!

I really want to connect with more Disabled streamers and adding a disability tag would make this far easier. The Disabled community is wonderfully supportive of each other but we need an easier way to connect with each other on Twitch. Since approximately 1 in 5 people are disabled this would benefit 20% of the population.
