1. Higher max. bitrate for everyone including NON-Partners.

   To put it simple: I'd like to stream my 1080p60 gameplay in better quality.

   My guess is that everyone would like to do it.

   For example: YouTube Gaming's recommended bitrate ranges from 4,500 to 9,000 kbps for 1080p60. Here we can use up to 3,100 without having fear that the stream will stutter a lot for the viewers.

   Would be awesome if we could get it here as well. Along with Quality options.

   As a NON-partner.

   Give us a chance to grow our channels with quality from the beginning.

2. Increase the bitrate for source quality.

   I understand people can't watch HQ streams because they have low internet speed but it's not fair for those who can.Games have a lot of foliage which makes the game look very bad.

3. Give a chance to little channels to grow or atleast let people see what they came for. Transcoding options.

   Dear staff of Twitch.tv,

   it’s been a little time for me doing live broadcasts and I would like to address an issue that I been thinking closely and so how it can be solved.

   I haven’t been streaming for a long time on Twitch.tv, that’s a reality. But somehow I keep having the same issue that keeps existing and it is latently in the Spanish and Latin America community especially.

   The issue lies that a lot of people living in Spain still doesn’t have good connections that are able to maintain live broadcasts with source quality.
   Only in cityes you may be able to get stable connections upper than 3Mb, and I would like to undermark the word stable, since you need that in order to follow a live broadcast.
   This case is even worse at Latin America, which having an stable connection of 3Mb may be considered in some cases a luxury or simply something not accesible for everyone.

   Being this the reality, I see everyday how a lot of people enter my channel and leaves because the broadcast keeps loading or suffer cuts that makes the visualization impossible. Some people express himself and ends up leaving, others simply don’t bother.

   They simple see that are only capable to follow content on partnered channels where there is a lot of people, but that content may not be of his interest, and after all leave the platform.

   Everyday I see how Twitch.tv and I keep losing potential viewers that would like to enjoy the platform but they cannot.
   And this issue it may be happening in a lot of channels, but here I can only explain my experience.
   Since I talk from my own experience I refer to the Spanish and Latin American community which is my target, but maybe other new streamers from other countryes are having the same issue.

   I really like to stream everything I play, from here I give you my sincere congratulations for achieving make this platform so big. But I got something else to ask you and that is to not forget about those who are today big we’re also small.

   This is the problem, which maybe you have proof about it and I have tried to express. But also I would like to share a the solution I have been thinking about, and if you consider it somewhow end up applying it.

   I have seen that there’s a subscription mode called Turbo for those people that are interested in the advantages that you actually offer.

   Why not put to that service an option for new broadcasters that could allow the capacity of doing it in different quality?

   I would be happy to be pay if my issue that also benefits Twitch.tv would been fixed. All those people I’m talking about won’t be leaving again, they would stay, enjoying what they’re expecting to see.

   One of the examples I have thinking about it’s about creating an additional subscription called Streamer Turbo or Turbo2. Which

   Streamer Turbo would be an independent service from Turbo, and Turbo2 would be an upgrade.
   Streamer Turbo would give the chance to stream in various quality.
   Or the case of Turbo2, the streamers will be paying for the actual subscription of Turbo an a bonus to access to stream in various quality.

   Dear Twitch.tv staff, there are a lot of channels that doesn’t have the minium followers to ask for partnership like mine which has a short life, but I think that you’re big enough to bring a solution to this issue.

   This may sound like a personal letter, but is nothing like an adapted mail I sent some time ago to the support center.
   After all they could do was to give me some advice and refer me to this page to make this petition, which I also appreciate since I didn’t know that this section existed.

   Please, have in mind that this is not for me, is for all Twitch.tv new and old streamers, that nowadays are still uncapable to have this issue solved.

   tras algún tiempo haciendo retransmisiones en vivo me pongo en contacto con vosotros para tratar un asunto que llevo algunos días pensándolo detenidamente y así mismo cómo podría solucionarse.

   No llevo mucho tiempo en Twitch.tv retransmitiendo, es una realidad. Sin embargo me encuentro con un problema que sí existe y es latente en la comunidad Española y de Latinoamérica.

   El problema radica en que muchas de las personas residentes en España, por raro que parezca aún siguen sin tener buenas conexiones que sean capaces de mantener retransmisiones en vivo con calidad original.
   Solo en ciudades se pueden conseguir líneas estables superiores a 3Mb, y quiero remarcar la palabra estable, ya que para seguir retransmisiones existe esa necesidad.
   El caso que argumento se agrava mucho más en Latinoamérica, donde tener una línea de Internet suficientemente estable o superior a 3Mb podría considerarse un pequeño lujo o simplemente algo no accesible para todos.

   Siendo esta la realidad, todos los días veo como mucha gente entra y se va porque la retransmisión se le corta, se le queda cargando y en definitiva no puede visualizarla correctamente. Algunos lo dicen, otros directamente no se molestan.

   En definitiva ven que solo son capaces de ver canales en los que hay muchísima gente y posiblemente ése contenido no les interese y acaben abandonando la plataforma.

   Todos los días veo como Twitch.tv y yo estoy perdiendo posibles seguidores que les gustaría disfrutar de la plataforma pero no pueden. Posiblemente esté pasando en muchos otros canales, pero sólo puedo exponer mis vivencias.

   A mí me encanta poder retransmitir aquello que estoy jugando y desde aquí os doy mi más sincera enhorabuena por haber conseguido algo tan grande. Pero tengo algo más que pediros y es que no os olvidéis de que aquellos que a día de hoy son grandes también fueron pequeños.

   Os he hecho saber un problema existente, el cuál seguramente tengáis conocimiento de ello y hasta aquí os lo he expresado. A su vez también me gustaría compartir con vosotros una pequeña solución a ello, y si la consideraseis oportuna, os pediría aplicarla.

   He visto que ponéis a disposición de aquellas personas que lo deseen suscribirse a un servicio llamado Turbo.

   ¿Porqué a ese servicio o a otro servicio encarado a personas que retransmiten sin ser socios no añadirle la capacidad de que aquella gente que desee retransmitir en vivo pueda hacerlo en distintas calidades?

   Yo estaría encantado de poder pagar para que mi problema que a su vez también beneficia a Twitch.tv estuviera solucionado. Todas esas personas de las que hablo no se volverían a ir, se quedarían en la plataforma, disfrutarían de aquello que han venido a ver.

   Uno de los ejemplos que se me había ocurrido es crear una subscripción llamada Streamer Turbo o Turbo 2, el cuál sería como un servicio superior o totalmente independiente del Turbo actual.

   Streamer Turbo daría la capacidad de activar la opción de calidad en el canal y ya está.
   O en el caso de Turbo2, los streamers estaríamos pagando por el servicio de Turbo actual y un extra para acceder a la prestación de calidad para los espectadores en el canal.

   Querido personal de Twitch.tv, sé que mi canal no llega a los mínimos para pediros ser vuestro socio, como ya he expresado tiene poca vida, pero creo que sois tan grandes como para poder ofrecer una solución a ello.

   Sé que esto puede parecer una carta, pero no deja de ser un correo adaptado que envié al grupo de soporte hace algún tiempo.
   Después de todo ellos solamente me pudieron dar el consejo de publicar aquí mi petición, para que se tuviera en cuenta, lo cual también agradezco ya que no sabía de la existencia de esta sección.

   Por favor, tener en cuenta que esto no es para mí, es para todos aquellos nuevos y antiguos streamers, que a día de hoy aún siguen teniendo este problema sin resolver.

4. partner with Deutsche Telekom 'StreamOn' for Twitch zero-rating

   From April 19th on, Deutsche Telekom will offer zero-rating in germany (much like 'Binge On' by T-Mobile US).
   Twitch's parent company, Amazon, already is a partner (with Amazon Prime Video) from day 1. YouTube will also be a partner from day 1.

   I enjoy watching twitch while on the train, but it eats LOTS of data - this would greatly help, as fast LTE is usually no problem. This will also get you parity with 'YT Gaming' in this regard - the twitch mobile app is much better than YT Gaming in general, but the zero-rated 1080p stream wins...

5. 10k Bitrate & Full Transcoding for All Streamers

   As the streaming industry embraces new technology, alongside increased internet speed standards, I would love for Twitch to adopt full transcoding for all active streamers as well as an increase in the bitrate cap to 10k.

   The current issue with the 6k bitrate cap for non-partners is inherently-lowered viewer experience. Viewers are consistently looking for superior quality streams as the first impression of long-term engagement and retention, which the current 6k bitrate cap severely inhibits due to automatic pixelation for high-movement games such as FPS. Since partners have the automatic 8-8.5k bitrate cap increase, this gives partnered content creators an automatically increased opportunity on the platform due to increased video quality enhancement while non-partnered streamers making up over 90% of the platform are automatically handicapped to lower settings.

   In addition, transcoding should be a set standard for all viewers to obtain regardless of partner status and allow for a flexible viewing experience based on viewer internet speeds instead of automatically forcing non-partnered streamers to lower their video quality settings or pray for random transcoding opportunity.

6. We suggest that you apply the p2p method to Korean Twitch and restore 1080p quality.

   I am a Korean Twitch user.

   Not long ago, the maximum video quality for watching Twitch in Korea was fixed at 720p.

   I heard that the reason was that the cost of using the network in Korea was a burden to the operation.

   In addition, I understand that Korea's new network fee bill has made it even more burdensome.

   Koreans fully understand this and are opposed to Korea's additional network usage fee bill.

   As a result, there is a prevailing expectation that this bill will be difficult to pass due to opposition from the National Assembly even in Korea.

   Anyway, apart from that, I would like to say that 1080p quality is almost essential in Korea.

   Currently, Korean Twitch has achieved remarkable growth, solidifying its position as the No. 1 streaming company in Korea, and its image both internally and externally is very good.

   Almost all of the famous game streamers in Korea are broadcasting on Twitch.

   However, after the recent 720p quality, there has been talk between them that they may be forced to move to another platform.

   Because 1080p quality is almost essential for streaming AAA games coming out in the second half of '22 and in the future.

   They have deep concerns that broadcasting will not be able to remain competitive without 1080p quality.

   Accordingly, what I would like to suggest to Twitch is to restore the 1080p quality, but to officially apply the p2p method that was tested.

   Currently, Korean Twitch users fully understand why the p2p method is inevitably necessary.

   And we are very happy with the current Twitch and agree to accept some revenue model to cover our network fees.

   Therefore, we look forward to providing positive feedback on 1080p recovery to our livelihood partner streamers and Korean Twitch users in the near future.

7. Lower Video Quality Options for Affiliates More Consistently

   I have a lot of my community who can't watch me if I stream in 1080p and I would like to stream in 1080p but I can't do that at the risk of losing viewers so can we get more transparent information on when Affiliates will get lower video quality options so every one can enjoy the stream.

8. Allow users to watch stream at 1080p 30fps

   1080p 30fps instead of just 1080p 60fps (Source) will be great for people with limited internet connection, you can experience quality of video similar to source but at HALF THE BANDWIDTH.

   Right now there is option for 720p, 720p60, 1080p60 (Source)
   Just add an option like 720p, 720p60, 1080p, 1080p60 (Source)

   I have watched people who actually stream at 1080p30 it is a better experience than 720p60.

9. Stop changing the quality of stream automatically, when it is not set to "Auto"

   Additionally, it should NEVER choose any other quality than the last selected. It is utterly annoying having to change quality, reload the page and then make sure the quality doesn't change on it's own, before getting to watch streams.

10. Improve Bitrate + HDR + 120FPS/Higher Resolution

    • Higher Bitrate: (Above 10.000, with video quality selector can be managed so if someone won't use that high download usage, he can tweak it), we still have a really low bitrate, and that force us try to tweak OBS to reach higher quality with lower CPU encoding speed. Still this is not a miracle, and 6000 bitrate is so limited (even if there is a trick to go beyond and reach 8000 bitrate).

    • HDR: OBS doesn't support because it's not worth it nowadays since Twitch is not supporting it, but other platforms are starting to give a hint to this technology. I think would be nice to have this option since Twitch is being used in so many Smart TV's in the present. So they could enjoy Twitch in a higher quality. Probably this option should need Twitch partnering with OBS or any other streaming program to make it possible in the best way.

    • Higher framerate/resolution: These days we're having better connections that allow us to go beyond the old limits, we could make this work since right now is really normal to see a gameplay in 120FPS and even the next gen consoles are supporting it.

    Twitch is the best stream platform, but our technical options are the same since almost 10 years ago. We should aim to higher quality so there are no quality loss between our viewership and our content.

    It's time to wake up and make some improvements :)

    Hi, it's about time to move forward, i can see we have the ability to stream in 1440p but we can't increase the bitrate. Solution: AV1 encoding or please increase the bitrate for 1440p streams, thank you

14. Up the bitrates across the board

    Up the bitrate Twitch. We have 4k60 consoles and PCs that can run 4k120, theres zero reason why bandwidth should be limited by anything other than the streamer's ISP. If I have 1GBPS, I should be able to stream a 65000KBPS stream in 4k, practically eliminating artifacts. In addition, transcoding should be a ubiquitous feature. This would only serve to bring actual high quality content to anyone who has the desire to consume it. These artificial limitations are absurd, especially since YouTube has made massive endroads here.

15. Multiple video streams in lieu of transcoding

    Twitch transcoding has a few issues. It's not always available (especially to non-partners), and it is of low quality (which is understandable considering the number of streams Twitch has to provide this service for).

    After the recent support of multiple audio streams (for VoD vs. live audio) I propose Twitch add support for sending multiple video streams on the mux to Twitch. This improves multiple issues:

    • No requirement for streams to have, or be provided, transcoding options from Twitch's side
    • Higher quality viewing options for the client (broadcaster encoded streams of higher quality)
    • Reduced load on Twitch's transcoding servers
    • Broadcaster controlled stream options

    With NVENC being far more sophisticated and generally available to many broadcasters, with most consumer cards supporting 2 encoding streams (and Quatro cards supporting 3+), enabling broadcasters to provide their own quality options increases stream broadcast quality and reduces/removes the need for Twitch to provide this option. This should in turn increase the number of broadcasters not using this feature to be granted Twitch transcoding.

    Many broadcasters that would use this feature should be in tune with their community and requirements. A typical example of this being used:

    • 5Mbit 720p60
    • 2Mbit 480p30

    A more sophisticated example for bigger broadcasts (eSports):

    • 6Mbit 1080p60
    • 4.5Mbit 720p60
    • 3.5Mbit 480p60
    • 1.5Mbit 480p30

    Broadcasting software already has preliminary support for multiple encoding streams (OBS) and bigger broadcasts from eSports companies and events likely use expensive multi-transcoding hardware for their streams to multiple services. With Twitch supporting direct stream support from broadcasters unlike competitors like Youtube, etc. this should continue Twitch's legacy of being the higher quality platform for media broadcast.

    Twitch transcoding has a few issues. It's not always available (especially to non-partners), and it is of low quality (which is understandable considering the number of streams Twitch has to provide this service for).

16. Add atleast 1 low-quality option when no options are available!

    Hi!
    I'm a small streamer from EU speaking english only. This means my viewers are from many different countries and sadly some countries have poor internet.
    I've had many complains in my chat about the lack of options for video-quality, since it is laggy and loading alot for my viewers with poor internet performance.

    My suggestion is that atleast ONE low-quality option should be available beside the source-quality. This would satisfy many viewers and also make it easier/more optimal to keep the viewers at the channel of a small streamer.
    What happens is that the viewer will simply go to a partner where they can always reduce the quality.

    Not fair. Not equal in my oppinion!

17. Make quality selection actually work.

    Why does quality selection always hang?? MAYBE with live streams it's understandable but watching VODS and I can't change the quality? It's stuck at 144p and your stupid fucking gear just keeps spinning without actually doing anything. I have no idea how twitch is so popular when the thing it revolves around, THE VIDEO PLAYER, is absolute shit. Jesus Christ.

18. Add parameter to set max quality video in auto mode

    My idea is the possibility to select en "HIGHEST quality preference when auto quality mode is active" in order to reduce the number of times it tries to get to a higher quality but my connexion CAN'T follow the flux OR to reduce my flux when my stream raid another one.

    The goal is to:
    1) reduce the risk of buffering
    2) automatically reduce bandwith consumption (it can't get higher than 480p for example) when i don't need more and i'm too far to reduce it [ecological measure]

    Most of the time i look games which don't need HIGH quality settings to be watched (Mario maker, 8bits games...) but even more when i'm far of my screen, i don't care of the detaisl because i can't see them that far.

    However, when i'm on "Auto" quality mode, the player automatically select the highest quality available (since i get optical fiber but before it was only going upper quality, buffering and going down again and again...) but i don't care of the highest quality.

    The goal of this is to reduce incomfort of buffering because "Auto" pick a too high bandwith AND/OR reduce the bandwith consumption when i don't need to use the maximum (for the planet).

19. Twtich Server Upgrade, Pay Money for more Bitrate / Upload ???

    Twtich server upgrade so also more bitrate upload and users pay a small pocket money for this :)

    You know it from server hosters "You want more upload or more storage, then rent at Twitch-Turbo the server package" For +5,90$ or 9,90$ you can upload and stream up to 13K/ 15K.
    So Twitch would have less problems with the costs and who does not want to pay such a server upgrade remains with Free and 6-8K upload depending on Twitch contract.

    Possible would be this Year, because it's time for an Upgrade at Twitch :)
    YT has long been at Good (Hype) Quality and Twitchazon ;) would be well positioned with Amazon AWS Servers and their Data Centers.

    go ahead and let the users begin streaming more than full hd and selected frame rate videos like 720@244/120fps let the user choose resolution and frame rate above 60
