[Test] Crowd Chant
Some communities will notice a new way to "chant" during hype moments on stream. This is a limited time experiment where only some creators will have access to this feature. Creators and Mods will be able to use /chant (using text and/or emotes) in chat to kick one off. Viewers will see a private callout with the chant and can dismiss or choose to participate!
We'd love to hear your thoughts and suggestions here. We look forward to hearing your feedback!

On 2/2, we will turn off Chants.
While this feature was popular, we observed negative impacts to minutes watched for significant groups of creators.
Experiments help us test new ideas in real time, and decide what to build next. Thanks for sharing your feedback with us!

Seeing this feature play out during a hype moment in Gladd's stream during the day one raid race was a blast. Could definitely see it being useful for hype moments, and as a mod, having unified spam is better than all kinds of mismatched emotes flooding the screen. As long as the feature is always optional and not anyone can use it, I think it's awesome!

Could this be potentially added to @Autumn channel? It would be nice to see the feature and able to give feedback. Thanks team

This function doesn't come to me positively. Chant, led by mod, makes the chat uncharacteristic and is seen as meaningless spam. It interferes with smooth communication with streamers, and the function shown in the pop-up makes me tired. In particular, in the case some of female streamers, mod privatized personal messages by sending them through the chat function, and many people's messages were deleted by including banned words in the chat.
This is particularly tiring for viewers(especially dislike spamming) by giving mod who trusted by streamers excessive privileges to chat

Please offer a way to disable it. It's spammy and floods away the good conversations.

I like /chants, if it's used right. Wouldn't be bad to toggle it on or off in the settings for the Streamer though.
/chant can be useful for chats that are new to Twitch, to sort of lead them on what to type.
Also, the API should add something, so it can tell third party things that one started, so it can display in something like Chatterino.

I was just in a chat today of a streamer w 8k followers & 103chatters & the chant made the stream so much fun & the streamer had adapted to it so fast that I had thought it was an extension he'd been using forever. I went looking for it for me. Great job Twitch.
-->Just need it on my channel to play w it. Please expand the test out to more channels.
Also, an OFF feature for the streamers who choose not to use it if you decide to go the extension path vs chat command. Being that it's in a testing state. -

I think it's really cool and engaging. But what i don't find so cool is apparently i cannot use it on my channel....

Decent for smaller streamers, absolutely horrible with a decent / someone with s very active chat. At least make it possible to disable it completely so people don't get to spam link and possibly get auto banned from the channels. You goofed on this one twitch. Maybe at some more reasonable ideas in the future, give us the /me <colour> back as well.

How does this work. I haven't been able to get it to work in the stream I am a mod for.

I mod and I really like /chant so far. Streamer and chat were loving it, yesterday! Any chance you can give it to more channels? One of my favorite streamers, WolframHS, has a great stream and chat and I know it he and viewers would enjoy this feature a lot! Thanks!

I like this, and we have had a lot of fun with it on my channel.
If you think it is spam, even though it required the creator or a (trusted!!) mod to start a chant, the simple answer is just don't use it!

I don't know what's up with the hate, i love this. Would be great to get this to my steam! If you already got a mega active chat then don't use it? :)

If this feature is being kept around, make it so that the chant can go through even in emote-only mode.

I have noticed a glitch, apparently when people join the stream several minutes later some still get the pop up to chant a message that happened like 5min earlier, that's the only problem I have noticed so far

Got to play with this for a special stream and it made it so much better, people were really loving it.

VIPs should be able to start a chant if enabled by the streamer

This is a nifty feature. In a channel I mod for we have a 'Comfy' channel point redemption to allow people to spam the Comfy emote, we tried the chant feature out yesterday to chant 5 Comfy emotes and it got loads of immediate engagement from the active users to the lurkers and to even the ones without a sub so the text was shown instead of the emote.
A few feedback items would be;
* When chanting emotes it would be cool for non-subs for that one chant to be able to use the emotes specified
* We don't see too much of need to chant loads of text, but emotes can take a fair bit of space up and we only got 5 emotes before the 'Invalid Parameter' appeared for length of chant -

This is awesome! Those that complain about feature don't have to use it but it's great for communities that love to spam a phrase during specific moments in stream.

How do we get it into our streams? For me it says "Unrecognized command: /chant"
