[Test] Crowd Chant
Some communities will notice a new way to "chant" during hype moments on stream. This is a limited time experiment where only some creators will have access to this feature. Creators and Mods will be able to use /chant (using text and/or emotes) in chat to kick one off. Viewers will see a private callout with the chant and can dismiss or choose to participate!
We'd love to hear your thoughts and suggestions here. We look forward to hearing your feedback!

On 2/2, we will turn off Chants.
While this feature was popular, we observed negative impacts to minutes watched for significant groups of creators.
Experiments help us test new ideas in real time, and decide what to build next. Thanks for sharing your feedback with us!

No thanks. Bring back coloured /me text or give channels an option to turn it off if they didn't want /me. There's so many other fixes that would make modding a stream easier, this really isn't one of them. Like being able to search a user's previous names so you can see if they were previously flagged for issues in your channel, allowing mods to add/remove vips, allowing mods to change or pick from pre-written (by the channel owner) 'go live' messages, better chat-log search functions, fixing audio bugs and ongoing site instability issues. So many ideas that aren't chanting or confetti. Please listen to us.

Nothing wrong with an additional feature. Sure not for every community but not every feature is going to be. Now if only this thinking could be applied to things like /me! Wasn't for every community but instead it was removed and now your highest upvoted chat suggestion is to bring it back. It's okay to admit a mistake was made and bring it back ya know? :)

Love this feature for proudly culty channels like the one I mod for. It's non-invasive, so if you don't want it on your channel you can just ignore it. It brings a lot of joy to me though

It may not always happen, but this is a disaster waiting to happen. No one asked for that. I somewhat understand the idea and the attempt, but there is no need to encourage and force spam. If a streamer wants chat to spam to support a sub or something, let them do it that way. We don't need to "chant" it.

This is just encouraging useless spams. Absolutely not needed. This is not adding any value at all.

its fun, but starting a chant with a banned word can result in chaos and chanting with cheering can be abused. Also absolutely must have a way to disable them.

We don’t want this, we didn’t ask for this. Bring back colored /me text.

Used it during todays stream at it was super fun! thank you for this feature, i hope it will stay :)
one thing i worry is the performance of the site or streamers setup, as we got lags from 2k ppl watching and spamming the same message at the same time. usually used to under 1k viewers.
however for me, as a mod, is this feature very welcomed and as i said earlier-its super fun to mess with chat this way -

This is the type of thing I would see on Mixer. I like being able to read chat and have conversations no matter what is going on both as a streamer and as a viewer. This is just more pointless spam in chat.
An alternative would be to have it scroll across the top of chat (similar to how the hype train does) instead of everyone just spamming chat up so no one can have conversation until it's gone.

Not sure if this is the proper place for this, but there appears to be an issue with old chant "prompts" remaining on user's screens well after the chant was initiated (over an hour) and even after multiple chants have been ran.

There are so many other, highly-requested things to work on, and yet you choose to develop Twitch-endorsed chat spam?

@InaAletheia - That font is not what is in chat, it's the normal font. IDK why they showed that font in the screenshot.

Don't know if this is a good thing, right now. Cause of Corona most people earn less money, especially here in Germany. Don't know how other Countries doing things like Short Working ore Home office.
Maybe more thing for entertainments, for the viewers could work better. If the Entertainment is good, people will stay and pay bits ore subs maybe.
The people should not have the meaning of paying for streamers, they had to have the opportunity, but not the feeling of " you should do it", my meaning

I think it's a good Idea for very small streamer. On these Channels this function could help getting a more active chat. On bigger channels this could cause more spam (pending on the mods I guess)

Not desirable in the slightest. Spams chat too much, it's not really accessible or helpful for those with dyslexia or anxiety. You can easily miss important messages in chat as a result. I cannot believe twitch has done this but still hasn't added a trans, disabled or black tag.

As, i think, we've evolved from just gaming to everything that is everything on the net, i think we should keep in mind such things as privacy and keep up with the not entertaining time consuming activity that don't necessarily have profitable outcomes...and so on...

Automating the process kinda destoys the achievement you feel when suddenly everyone in chat chants the same.
If it's manufactured it will only become some annoying bs after a while. -

I like the idea of a chant, but please please please keep accessibility and legibility in mind going forward with this. The screenshots I've seen of the font used for this are absolutely terrible for both of those.
If you don't have any designers focusing on accessibility on your design team, please hire someone. The design choices that have been made recently have all been against good accessibility design. An example of what this test has been seen is linked below.

Fairly pointless imo. Communities that use hype ups / chants / emote spam already do it fairly well without somehow trying to automate the process and making it significantly more complex at the same time.
