[Test] Crowd Chant
Some communities will notice a new way to "chant" during hype moments on stream. This is a limited time experiment where only some creators will have access to this feature. Creators and Mods will be able to use /chant (using text and/or emotes) in chat to kick one off. Viewers will see a private callout with the chant and can dismiss or choose to participate!
We'd love to hear your thoughts and suggestions here. We look forward to hearing your feedback!

On 2/2, we will turn off Chants.
While this feature was popular, we observed negative impacts to minutes watched for significant groups of creators.
Experiments help us test new ideas in real time, and decide what to build next. Thanks for sharing your feedback with us!

I usually love to give constructive feedback on how to improve something but this time I have to make an exception. Please delete this. Why would you promote useless spam like this?

While this is really cool, there's a few weird things I've noticed.
For example, the person that starts the chant also gets the "chant" popup to click and chant the same thing a second time. I think it should either be the message doesn't post in chat when they start the chant, OR they shouldn't get that popup. Either of those experiences would make sense in my opinion.
Also, a way to set cooldowns or length of time for a chant would be really nice. I also haven't seen anything that says how long a chant lasts for so we don't necessarily know when one ends.

I guess I dont mind an extra feature really but I don't really see a point to this. I much more enjoy people having their own voice if they want to celebrate something. Other than that it just looks like and is spam. When there is no diversity in what chat is saying you just feel like as a mod you want to clear the chat entirely. Gives me a drowning feeling of nonsense that no one cares about because there's nothing unique about it.

IMO, would've been better to get feedback first before pushing this test out without letting streamers to disable it - screenshot of what it looks like was sufficient enough for me to understand the concept. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
In large channels where chat is mostly spamming emotes anyways, chanting could be super fun. However, in channels where streamers engaging with their chat is super important, chanting could be very disruptive and discourage conversation.
Not only does there need to be an option to completely disable the feature (ASAP), there also needs to be the ability to adjust the duration of the chant prompt and end it early.

I could see how this feature could be a fun way for shy users to interact without feeling the pressure to chat. It could be more convenient in a situation where a single reaction is needed. However, something to consider is that the feature needs a lot of development. For example, there should be a setting to enable or disable this feature in settings to avoid trolling. Additionally, maybe instead of just having it set to moderators start it manually, there could be a more "authentic" way to start a chant, where x amount of users typing the same thing could start a chant (but again, there should be settings for the chant feature to avoid trolling and abuse). The amount needed to start a chant could vary per community or be tweakable in settings. I hope my feedback helps!

this is honestly just not a very good feature. it makes chat feel so empty because everyone is just saying the same thing without typing it. the difference between this and copypastas is that people have to deliberately copy and paste it them, while clicking a button makes the chat feel so soulless and removes the feeling of being an individual in chat

No one really asked for this. Encourages spam even more than it already is, not to mention it's more garbage that crowds my chat, which means if I'm playing a game I'll have to alt-tab to close out the chant. Please remove this.

we dont need a spambot helper powered by mods, at least make it optionable or remove it, I experienced it on mizkifs stream and its just a spambot and could also be dangerous with chants where links are included resulting to massive timeout waves and chat lags especially for slow devices, thats just cancer, we dont need this, nobody needs this, what a stupid feature
btw follow me or bitcoin crashes to zero

If deployed, the "feature" is gonna destroy small and medium channel chats by causing it flooded with meaningless message copies. For big channels it might not be a big deal - the chat can barely be read there, but for smaller channels valuable messages will be buried in the copies. I have already spotted the flooding effect on one channel where the feature was enabled - it just killed [meaningful] chat at times. There is already a tool for expressing opinions - votes. There is no need to make chat meaningless with the innovation.

This is probably one of the worst things added to twitch since I started using twitch. The chants just flood the chat with pointless spam and chat unbearable.
If this "feature" stays, I'm going to have to stop using twitch chat, and without chat, I don't care for the emotes anymore, so why would I subscribe anymore.
Nobody asked for this feature, it's not at all a good user experience for the viewer.

Chanting lags my chromebook into death. So while I like the feature and it works great on my other devices, maybe a way to hide them and any people just spamming the chant might be cool lol

This feature is extremely invasive. It kicks off pointless spam that drowns out conversations. It has a UI popup that appears right where you are looking when reading chat AND requires interaction to dismiss quickly. It makes the "PogChamp" moments in streams feel cheap because the chat exploding as a reaction is no longer organic, and is instead initiated by a popup. PLEASE just remove it, or at bare minimum provide an option to completely disable it (including hiding every chat message from other users utilizing it to spam). I'm getting really tired of coding or installing extensions to deal with all the pointless UI clutter you guys keep introducing. Let the platform do what it's already good at instead of getting in the way of it.

Not sure if it worked or not, I like the idea, but I think it broke other basic chat commands like @ ing someone among other things. I'd rather have the @ than the chant personally lol

The additional feature is nice, but some chat features (/me which added fun to raids, and was enough to mod against if it was used for spam) were more useful, and there are probably more that could be more useful.

You've broken Twitch chat for me, I could not find my emotes before when I did :hype because you added too many stupid hype emotes with now way to disable it (https://twitter.com/PlatYellow/status/1305649488179142662), but I can't do any emotes after the colon and can't do @ mentions. (https://i.imgur.com/mT2NLWf.png).
I don't understand why you feel the need to continue to add more stuff. You already took out the /me colour which ruined raids, it now hurts my eyes to look at them when they come into chats I mod for.
I can't even copy and paste on your chat properly anymore (https://i.imgur.com/R8FrqJZ.png), you have ruined based features like this.
This doesn't make me want to participate in chat, it makes me want to give up the chats I mod for because my job as Mod is harder. Mod view doesn't work properly either, it glitches out if I've been in chat for too long. Why can't it be a simple chat.
