[MERGED] Bring back colored /me chat messages + Update the /me command to color chat messages FOR MODS/BROADCASTER ROLES ONLY
Or at least give streamers the authority to enable or disable it. But the ENTIRE point was how it stood out with color. Plain black with italics just renders it useless.

Hey all,
Thank you for the patience with us on this. This has been one of the most popular ideas on UserVoice and we definitely heard your feedback.
Today we launched /announcement for mods and streamers. Announcements can be used in chat to highlight a message and are available in 4 different colors along with the channel accent color. Because this is only part of the ask of this idea we are setting this idea to partial release so the community can continue to leave feedback on this.

The /me has not been removed. some users on the voting poll needs to stop giving false information. it's misleading.

@mouse any updates on it?

Making a change that "fixes" an issue for a very small percentage of "abusive" users that disrupts the vast majority of legitimate uses should have never made it past "regression testing".

You already have the solution: Different rights for different followers/subscribers/VIP's! - Just give the abillity to the streamers and their mods to share the rights using colored me text. But please without an additional special badge like the VIP's.
Especially on musician streams where the clored me text was used for 'sing along' with the artists you literally destroyed the mood. If you need an example please let me know.
So please give the most lovely Twitch community the colored me text back!!!
Kind regards

Literally not one active twitch user likes this change. Are you guys just employing people you find on the street? Why would you remove this feature that has been great for the longest time just because some kids are being trolled by a fake donation. Make the system a toggle or something if its really that much of an issue. This is such a mismanagement and I truly wonder what goes through these peoples heads to waste their own time just to make twitch worse. All while hot tub streams dominate the website. Get it together WeirdChamp

you guys are so unbelievably out of touch, why remove this great feature because some people get tricked by trolls? Why not ban the trolls, or get this, maybe make it a toggle if you are still so insistent. Twitch is so out of touch with their community it makes my head hurt, as I genuinely hope a competitor comes around to put you out of business.

Twitch could solve this issue by failing the change and putting things back.

I feel like the streamer should have the option to choose whether or not to have colored / me messages. If there is a problem then they can choose to disable it until the source is dealt with by said stream or their mods at which time it could be re-enabled. Punishing the ENTIRE Twitch community by taking it away, instead of dealing with the trouble makers, will only succeed in turning said community against and away from your platform.

You could solve this by making it optional. Then people can choose what they want.

Please fire who ever decided this /me change, and bring back the previous functionality or as proposed above, give the streamer the decision.
thank you

Get colored /me again! Because updated it looks absolutely stupid!

I feel like if people were really mistaking random user's /me messages with their bot's messages, a better solution would be to add a new /notify command that can only be used by Moderator / Broadcaster ranks, and have the new /notify messages be highlighted in a different way that makes them stand out even more (perhaps like the channel point "Highlight my message" redeem, but with a different coloured background).
Also with the italic text /me you can still sort of troll/confuse broadcasters by doing `/me : message deleted by a moderator.` (since message deletion also uses the italics style, only slightly grey, if you're not looking closely it can look like a user was moderated)

How is this still under consideration and not yet fixed? Seeing the number of reactions and votes this should be top priority.

I agree to the others, that you can use it for Mods and Broadcasters only. The italic is no good way to do this. So for Mods and Broadcasters is it ok. It is no garbage textart and the other chatters can see "Hey this is a Mod/Broadcaster/ or Bot account that say something. Why it would be there a abuse, especially since you can see through the colour that it is a different text.

So are we getting the original /me command back or are you going to ruin the site more while thinking you are doing something good? Literally, nobody has ever abused the /me command maliciously. Sure, some people may have used the /me command to trick some people but how could that harm anyone at all?
This was just a stupid rework of the command that one person thought was a good idea and thousands of others have already said it's not, yet you still keep it the way it is as if you know better than thousands of people who use the website actively. Just bring it back already so bots can actually be noticed and people typing in chat can have a better way to express themselves than italics... like come on really???

This Change has been Frustrating to say the least I've never seen this Abused, so can't say anything against this. But to take the Color away from the Messages and make it Italic was frustrating. Especially our former Brightly Colored Raid Messages are now Bland, just give us back Colors.

We understand that this change was made for our safety, however, most of us use this for bot messages. Having this be set to Mods and Broadcasters ONLY would in terms keep us safe but also still allow us to have our bot messages be seen!

I run a channel where a bot interprets commands sent with /me and does actions in the game. The lack of colored text makes it MUCH more difficult for viewers to tell the difference between regular chat and bot commands, and harder to tell when you forgot to include /me on the command. Restoring color just for mods/broadcasters wouldn't fix this for me.
