[MERGED] Bring back colored /me chat messages + Update the /me command to color chat messages FOR MODS/BROADCASTER ROLES ONLY
Or at least give streamers the authority to enable or disable it. But the ENTIRE point was how it stood out with color. Plain black with italics just renders it useless.

Hey all,
Thank you for the patience with us on this. This has been one of the most popular ideas on UserVoice and we definitely heard your feedback.
Today we launched /announcement for mods and streamers. Announcements can be used in chat to highlight a message and are available in 4 different colors along with the channel accent color. Because this is only part of the ask of this idea we are setting this idea to partial release so the community can continue to leave feedback on this.

Can you elaborate on "the way this feature was being used to perpetrate abuse against members of our community"? I really can't imagine how that differs from chat in general...

I think April 29, 2021 was the last official update from Twitch. Would be nice to get another update.

So it was too hard to implement and make this a setting for the streamer? Or they just don't care listening to users as long as the money comes in? After all this time one would think they would have done something.

I wonder when mouse will get back to this?

It’s been 5 months… 5!! Nothing has been changed. The reason to remove it was utter bull from people who don’t pay attention to every single way possible to check if a donation is actually made (alerts, lights, bot messages, and action list…). With so many bigger fish to fry, this is what was found most important and everyone agrees it was dumb. At least make it an option like you were hinting for, jeez!

Twitch still ignores the users voice, what does that mean? Twitch is not interested in what the Users (keep in mind: The people that brings the money in) want. There is someone who say "I don't want to change this" and nobody of the people working for twitch dares to say anything against this, they're all afraid of getting fired! That's the truth.

I've been staying tuned for 4 months and now I'm giving up. Thankfully, we have third party add-ons like FFZ and BTTV that care about user experience.

Agreed @queen_leo_of_animals . Every day without this on Twitch has been painful (italics are super difficult and annoying to read in a fast-moving chat) and we're almost 4 months without a single meaningful update. :-|

so where's that update mouse?

May we please have an update to this. 5K+ votes, 500+ comments, 3+ months, and nothing I've seen but radio silence from Twitch on the matter. Are updates posted elsewhere?

The fact that this hasn't been changed yet is mindblowing to me. No one likes this change and it makes the chat less accessible for people who benefited from the original colored chat feature. Not only did you make a change that no one liked or needed and hates, but you guys fail to recognize it and change it back.

REVERSE this decision please and give Twitch users an option to disable and enable the /me so that trolls don't use it. The original /me color wasn't being used to perpetrate abuse against members in your community, and PLEASE stop making those types of changes in the future that DOESN'T please the entire Twitch community as no one has asked you to change it into an italic feature. Please, please, PLEASE bring back the original /me but again, WITH an option for us users to disable AND enable.

This entire thread is a testament to how stupid a change this was and how this has only annoyed people rather than solve a safety issue. If the issue isn't the fake donate message non-sense, then explain what the "safety issue" is. It would be better than this half-assed response which you plastered on this issue before leaving the thread to rot at just above 5000 votes. In addition, this shows either a disregard for users or a disregard for the platform as a whole. In addition to benign stuff like this, there are constant issues on twitch. For example... "Wanna become famous?", The Twitch Authority, Hot tub streams. And despite all of this, you modify something which was used as a dumb prank by a small amount of viewers where the worst harm done was annoying a streamer who was most likely not familiar with twitch. If you aren't going to change it back, at least provide a better explanation then the generic "this feature was being used to perpetrate abuse against members of our community" would it kill you to be slightly more specific.

I don't understand what removing colors was trying to fix ? Stupidity was hard at work it seems

Even if it was only available while raiding.

I have to use third party tools (like FrakerFaceZ) because I really don't like the way the new /me works, removing the original was a pointless decision.
-
Pubtest commented
The original /me functionality still works in VOD playbacks, so what gives.
I believe that still being present in VODs proves this change was rushed into production without the proper checks and balances.

I think at this point, all the comments are going straight to /dev/null
