[MERGED] Bring back colored /me chat messages + Update the /me command to color chat messages FOR MODS/BROADCASTER ROLES ONLY
Or at least give streamers the authority to enable or disable it. But the ENTIRE point was how it stood out with color. Plain black with italics just renders it useless.
Hey all,
Thank you for the patience with us on this. This has been one of the most popular ideas on UserVoice and we definitely heard your feedback.
Today we launched /announcement for mods and streamers. Announcements can be used in chat to highlight a message and are available in 4 different colors along with the channel accent color. Because this is only part of the ask of this idea we are setting this idea to partial release so the community can continue to leave feedback on this.

This was an outstanding feature to grab viewers' attention when executing bot commands or when mods needed to speak in a busy chat. Removing the color information blends "/me" commands with the rest of chat, rendering them useless

Please don't take away the colours. It keeps chat interesting vs lame

Undo the recent changes to /me, a lot of us use this to make chat commands and important messages stand out, removing it completely is a huge mistake. Potentially make it a mod only feature so it cant be abused for fake donos etc, but please do not remove it completely.

Colored >> Italic || (very useful for bots)
You can create a button for the user to choose the appearance of / me. -

With the removal of /me, a way some mods and bots use to distinguish themselves better, there should be better options for moderator distinguishing. Such as a different type of highlight (different from highlight your message), or keeping the colored messages like /me for them. It could be a separate command, and when used by a non mod would just send the message normally (such as for bots that haven’t been modded for any reason but still need to send the message out).

Changing the command from colorful text to italics is more harmful than helpful. It makes a lot more sense for Twitch to just give us more options. Let us choose whether we want it to be color or italics, and if it's an issue for some let us also choose who can use it. Such as only moderators may use the command. The colorful text is helpful. It makes bot posts stand out and allows for fun raids, things others have mentioned already.

This has always been a great way for mods to grab the streamer's attention. Please bring it back! D:

You need to just have a way where streamers filter out those fake donations. It’s not that hard to see the difference between a fake donation and a real one. especially if you have notifications on for it. /me color change was a great way to have fun in chat.

/me is just pointless now, this update will discourage people from using it now. Bring back colored /me chat messages!

there was no need to change how the "/me" option worked, especially because by changing the color of the text, chats didnt look like a whole block of text and more importantly, it gave better voice to mods.
now it just looks useless and honestly really ugly.
this change was quite useless and unnecessary.
bring back the colored text and get rid of the useless italic text. -

The change to /me was a solution in search of a problem. Revert it.

It is so useful for chat to see important commands or links from the bots or the mods, italicizing it does not give it nearly the emphasis it deserves. Please add an option to toggle it so that either /me is available for broadcasters, mods and VIPs only, and/or to toggle color on and off. Otherwise this "feature" is just a deficit and a step backwards to the platform and its user-friendliness.

Allow streamers to choose whether the /me colorizes or italicizes messages in their own chat. The loss of the colorization is very unfortunate because it was used to make bot commands linking to important information such as charity donation links more visible. However, I understand why people may have wanted it to change, so I believe a toggle like this is a fair compromise. Also, give users the ability to have a global toggle on whether the command colorizes or italicizes for them.

Nobody thought that /me was problematic, except maybe in fringe cases. Please do not implement these changes.

Instead of changing /me to italicized text, just limit its use! I love the color option of text.

The whole point of /me is for it to be colored. what would be an IMMENSELY better idea is to have an option for the broadcaster and/or mods to limit the command to broadcaster/mods. The color is what makes it useful for important messages, otherwise it gets skipped over.

Its nice to have all the colors of all the people singing along!!!!!
I would miss it a lot if its deleted!!!!!

Literally nobody asked for this to be removed. This is yet another dumb decision to remove something that caused no inconvenience to anyone.

Rather than giving just one option, I would find it better to be able to choose between both, e.g. use a switch in the moderator settings. I understand the point, that in big streams especially, the old /me command could get spammed a lot. The main use for /me is for highlighting important messages (either from mods or bots) but the italic font doesn't highlight the messages as well as the colorful font and could be skipped easily.
Another idea would be to have the option to turn on the old /me only for moderators or VIPs or use a separate command for the colorful /me. -

Basically kids come into chat all the time then do /me donated $100 and stuff and it gets very annoying for me a fellow mod, please remove this feature as there is no reason for it.
