[MERGED] Bring back colored /me chat messages + Update the /me command to color chat messages FOR MODS/BROADCASTER ROLES ONLY
Or at least give streamers the authority to enable or disable it. But the ENTIRE point was how it stood out with color. Plain black with italics just renders it useless.
Thank you for the patience with us on this. This has been one of the most popular ideas on UserVoice and we definitely heard your feedback.
Today we launched /announcement for mods and streamers. Announcements can be used in chat to highlight a message and are available in 4 different colors along with the channel accent color. Because this is only part of the ask of this idea we are setting this idea to partial release so the community can continue to leave feedback on this.
I find that the new /me command causes more confusion as it now looks like the rest of the text unless I stare at it for more than a couple of seconds and realise it's slightly smaller italic and seems to be floating higher up on the line than the normal text.
It requires no effort to remedy a fake tip via /me, but it requires a lot of effort for LGBTQ+ and BIPOC creators to protect themselves through the market twitch has fostered.
Bring it back!
As a mod of a few (albeit smaller) streamers I'd weigh in that /if/ someone was abusing the coloured version of /me it's almost zero effort to timeout or ban them, there's no reason for this recent change. All it does is make the chat look a little less lively. It doesn't feel like a way to say "this is me doing an action" it's closer to "I'm stressing this point using italics"
As with most features Twitch rolls out, having the option to toggle /me colours on/off, and allowing users to set behaviour based on mod/sub/VIP role, would go a long way.
optional (controlled by the individual user) would be great - but at least bringing it back would be good enough.
I would love to see this changed to a level of who can use it, if they insist we want to limit trolls. Let us select everyone/subs/mods+VIP etc.
I love seeing my chat light up rainbow when folks hype and raid in. It's useful for bot commands so we can distinguish from other things said in stream.
I think a nice option would be to give streamers controls over who can access /me in their streams. Let them decide if they want it to be for everyone, subs, or mods (e.g. chat bots) to have it, or disabled it, etc. Let them be in control of it.
I need colours to distinguish bots commands, for songs playing, shoutouts, social media, rules, tournament join information etc - please bring it back. This is taking a core feature away from us.
Yah.. really good job excluding the ones with dyslexia and the visually impaired.
Either bring it back or make it optional. Italics make it more difficult to read and having the colours helps bot messages stand out (and actually allows mods to see those fake tip messages you’re worried about so much easier)
The only thing that italics does is made it harder to read for people with dyslexia and makes it stand out less like it was with color.
I had to install FFZ to make chat readable for me again :(
As someone with dyslexia, please bring back the colorful /me! There are far more important issues that y'all need to be dealing with!
italics is going to make it hard to read for people with dyslexia
I'd love to know where anyone asked for the colours to be taken away in the first place? There are plenty of other things your users are actually asking for, however, just saying...
This is a very minor thing but a very arbitrary and asenine decision that doesn't do anything useful and hinders the fun and user experience of Twitch by killing rainbow raids.
please dont change it! i love /me
Bring the colored /me message back!
At the very least, let broadcasters enable colored /me for mods. Also, italics in large blocks of text is near impossible to read when chat is scrolling.
