[MERGED] Bring back colored /me chat messages + Update the /me command to color chat messages FOR MODS/BROADCASTER ROLES ONLY
Or at least give streamers the authority to enable or disable it. But the ENTIRE point was how it stood out with color. Plain black with italics just renders it useless.
Hey all,
Thank you for the patience with us on this. This has been one of the most popular ideas on UserVoice and we definitely heard your feedback.
Today we launched /announcement for mods and streamers. Announcements can be used in chat to highlight a message and are available in 4 different colors along with the channel accent color. Because this is only part of the ask of this idea we are setting this idea to partial release so the community can continue to leave feedback on this.

The removal of the nametag coloured /me respond in chat is just plainly dumb.
Firstly, the bots which post a fake donation use the word 'donated' - this word is not used on the platform except by the fake donation message, therefore this change has not fixed the problem.
Banning the word 'donated' fixes the problem instantly.Coloured chat responses are great for:
1. It makes raids look awesome.
2. Bot responses in the alternate colour make them easy to find/ignore depending on what the viewer is desire. The people involved in this change need to be sacked. They have broken a great feature and have failed to fix the issue at hand.

This was a very poor choice without thinking of the visual impact. Please change it back.

AGREED!! Or make it like posting links in chat- only streamer, mods, and VIP's can use /me.

This is insane, bring it back.

I've been on JTV since 2008 and if you take away this /me cmd with color, idk what to do, Its not like ill stop using twitch. I may lose my love for the site, i just found out right now and it hurts me to see that my text isn't red... Why twitch, I understand people gonna troll and be mean but like, its /me, its the internet. I've seen people write death on a shotgun shell and load it into their shotgun on this site(im using liberty with the fact it was on jtv, but still) and i deserve a colored /me cmd.

Taking away such a useful feature without any warning is such a terrible idea. Worse is that you replaced it with something far less useful for streamers. I used the /me command to make sure important channel messages were seen, and there was never any misuse of the command in my channel.

Coloured text is very noticable, and incredibly important for moderators and especially bots with explaination commands in order to help them stand out. Please make italics another in-chat command and bring /me back to coloured text , italics do nothing to improve visibility of a message in a faster paced chat.
(And why italics anyway ? That's harder to read, bold wouldn't have been half as bad). -

Please change this to have an option for the streamer to toggle the /me chat colors feature on or off for their channel! So many of us use it for positive things, helpful bot messages, etc. but would not want to completely ignore those who have trolling issues from the feature.
Making a toggle would give every streamer the choice of how the /me messages are formatted. -

Following this same rule then let's put all user nicknames in the same color and in italics, absurd.

Please bring this back. I use /me for my chatbot's messages, and I enjoy seeing colored messages in raids or using them. Or at least make it optional per streamer

In music community, we promote positivness and love. It's a joy to use colorfull messages to sing with everyone and raid amazing perfomers in a rainbow storm.

hubbaherbba commented
At least make it an option. Most chats don't misuse it.

Please return the chat to the way it was.

As a disabled twitch user, this new 'feature' makes it even more difficult to keep up with chat. Italicized text is extremely hard to read for some users, and can make it appear as comments have been deleted at a glance. Perhaps change /me to bold, and add a new command for colored fonts available to mods and bots only. This can allow official channel content to appear colored, but still let viewers have their fun with a more visible /me font without any confusion.

Italics is harder to read for a lot of people. Bots will spam with color or italics. By taking the colored text away, you only diminish the community, not the bots.

Just bring back please!
If you guys are so worried about this, put a command for streamers enable and disable colored messages. But bring back please, it wasn't a problem !
(italic is sh*t) -

Rather than removing color: add more editing to the text for Moderators.
I know, a lot of those bots would look nicer with bold, italic etc.
Why removing color and make it italic only?
Just add it, let the moderators/bots decide. 99% of the bots have a blacklist for using /me, so it doesnt need to be removed anyway.
I'm 7 years on this platform, never heard of excessive/abusive trolling with /me.

I don’t remember people asking for this and the first time I hear of it you’re removing a useful feature?
Bring it back it’s not a problem.

The italics are very difficult to read- as a moderator and a streamer, this is a horrible change. Please bring back the colors; they're much easier to read and more accessible.
Also- I absolutely loved colorful rainbow Raid messages.
