Adding pronoun information to chat
For people who are trans and/or non-binary, letting streamers know your pronouns in chat so that your gendered correctly can either be awkward or difficult. An option for people to add their pronouns in brackets beside their usernames or in their profile cards in chat might help to let the streamer and/or chat know if a user feels it's important.

I love this idea, I mean easily could put it in my bio but as you said sometimes they're not bothered to read them! Love this honestly.

That is definitely a great idea to use so that new followers will know your pronouns as they begin their journey with you!

Surprised this isn't a thing already

This is a fantastic idea and I would love to see it implemented ☺️

I’d like the option to choose pronouns and have them be visible next to your channel name as a streamer (or viewer), like the way Instagram and Tiktok have it shown, instead of having to use a tag slot. Even though I have my pronouns in my bio, many people still ask. If viewers click on me directly, they don’t bother to read bios :) There are third party applications that make it easy for viewers to share their pronouns, but they don’t help the streamer as much

Just add the thing natively already, a lot of us already use a browser extension for this - how hard can it be for twitch to add it?
Because honestly? Being a woman on the internet is already hard enough and it gets double annoying when someone calls you a dude or he/him all the time just because you use a name that's not gendered at all and by that I mean, that it's a word or a name that has no gender attached to it. Unfortunately we live in a weird world where people default to male all the time. But women on the internet exist just as much as non-binary people.
Respecting others doesn't gravely injure you or whatever, it does not inconvenience you despite what some might like you to believe. It's just a common courtesy. You wouldn't go out in the street either and address a random woman with 'hey dude' or 'Sir' either. -

The thing that genuinely baffles me about anyone against this - are they saying they're ok with being called a gender that they're not? Like, even if you ascribe to "biological sex ends at the high school level of differentation" (aka xx and xy only, which science and biology both agree is not true), you'd be ok being called what you're not? And/or you're ok with correcting multiple hundreds of people if they happen to guess wrong? I'm gonna go out on a limb and say the answer is actually no, and you're pushing against this solely because you don't feel the need to respect certain people.

There's an extension that does this already and it's very useful, a lot of people use it in my streams and I don't have to worry about missgendering them by mistake, you can check it here → https://pronouns.alejo.io/

I think this is great for everyone, not just trans and non-binary people. The number of times I could pervent people from just assuming I'm a guy would be great AND we could help support gender minorities too?? Amazing.

It's almost always a good idea to be kind as it costs nothing or next to it. We should do what we can to avoid hurting others. If you don't like the idea of being kind or respecting others' identities, maybe just move on or start your own uservoice about something important to you. We don't have to demean others to make ourselves feel better.
Twitch should either offer an in-house option for preferred pronouns to be visible to those wanting to see them or promote one of the plugins which already do so.

Oh if you think pronouns are controversial, maybe you should take a looooong look at the English language.

Better yet, what if we just call people by their username. We are mainstreaming delusion to add pronouns; it's unnecessary and controversial.

That's not even only for trans or not binary people. Every time I'm talking to a new person, I have to use they/them until I figure out from what they say which pronouns they would like.
And let's be honest, greeting someone by "Hello, welcome! Are you a guy or a girl?", it's just weird.
"Hello, welcome! Which pronouns you want us to use for you?" is slightly better, but obviously it's difficult to remember this for every new user. And what about the people in the chat that were not there when that person came? -

I am new here, is there a way to vote against this ? Or only for it ? Makes it kinda biased if that's the case no ?

I'm all for it. As a creator is always a bad idea to assume anyone gender or identity in the chat. It would be a great tool for trans an NB users, but also for creators and cis users in general. As long as it's optional for everyone it would be a great implementation. A badge would also be a great solution.

I think the ability of having our pronouns next to our names would be a great way to practice inclusivity. I would appreciate your vote towards this idea. Thank you, best vibes to you. :)

Visibility is important, for trans people as well as allies. The more cis people are reminded that pronouns are a thing, and the more normalised considering others' pronouns becomes, the less "other" we'll appear to them, maybe the less people roll their eyes when I give my pronouns. Besides, even if others don't respect them, at least I'll know how to address people when I stream

I get misgendered on a daily basis on twitch. I would love to have my pronouns displayed so I don’t need to go through this harm and I’d love to be able to know those who opt in so I don’t potentially misgender them as well.

It is FAR past time that Twitch allow users to designate their pronouns in chat. If someone else has created a tool that meets our need, then you can.
