Limiting participation in chat based on account creation date
To help reduce the blatant and increasing violations of the harassment policy on Twitch, you should implement a new feature that allows a channel to prevent users from participating in their chat if the account is under a certain age, which could be specified specified by the channel.
Currently, it's easy for a user to create temporary email and Twitch accounts and harass a live streaming account under the guise of anonymity. This would add a much needed barrier to entry without requiring a user to follow or subscribe to be apart of a channel. The code currently exists for this feature regarding followers, and this feels like a natural next step for Twitch to help protect their creators.
Hello everyone! Apologies for missing this post - but good news! Now creators can enable phone/email verification for a designated amount of time to verify their chatters.
You can find more information in our blog: https://blog.twitch.tv/en/2021/09/29/securing-your-chat-with-phone-and-email-verification/
Thank you all for the feedback!

I can count on multiple hands the amount of times I've been harassed from burner accounts THIS WEEK. Countless instances of accounts being made MINUTES prior to the harassment, only to get banned and the same messages to be posted an hour later. These loopholes make a mockery of both Twitch as a platform and their recent attempts to provide spaces for marginalized streamers (during PRIDE MONTH, of all times.) This should have been instituted a long time ago, and should **** well be instituted now before you lose a major source of your content.

I got harassed by an account made 35 minutes prior on my stream two days ago. First day of pride month and I was instantly being harassed by transphobic people on burner accounts. For the love of all that is good in this world, please make this a thing, Twitch.

This seems like a feature that is long overdue. The main method of harassing people is through burner accounts, so please add this

When im modding for friends most of the accounts im banning are fresh accounts used to spam or harass. PLEASE make this a thing

In a world where we KNOW that burner accounts is one of the main ways people troll and harass, it seems like a no brainer to give streamers some way of preventing that particular form of harassment.

This would help streamers and mods alike to prevent banned accounts from rapidly creating alts to harrass streamers.

On larger channels, this would cut down on spam and harassment so much. And so easily done. . .

Twitch lacks security and makes it way too easy to create new accounts. Having a troll, even if you ignore it, follow your page with numerous accounts, it hurts. You see how many people follow you, you see the followers list, and you see many of the followers are from a troll. It takes any feeling of accomplishment and thrown in the trash. This needs to change!

There's a term called "sock accounts" and it creates a real problem on Twitch. They're typically made to harass, and no matter the severity, no streamer on Twitch should have to put up with it.

One of the biggest issues for dealing with harassment is the ease of new accounts continuing the assault. This is a fantastic suggestion.

this feature should've been added years ago, it's astounding to me that twitch hasn't already implemented this. seems like such an easy add that will prevent so much spam. absolutely need this change—very nice suggestion

There's no better endorsement for a feature preventing brand new accounts from causing problems than someone coming in on a brand new account and harassing the person who posted the suggestion.

Of the accounts that have come in and caused problems, 9/10 or more were created within the last 14 days. This would go a long way to actually preventing abuse.

Great idea. Should have already been a thing. Also, can we do something where if you unfollow and refollow within 5 mins it does not erase your entire followage? I accidently hit the unfollow button from time to time and lose my followage which really sucks.

Thank you for this suggestion.

Add the ability to block follows the same way. Currently modding a channel that is suffering from an inundation of bot follows.
