Founder Badge to apply to gifted subs.
When you get gifted a sub, you can't subscribe by yourself that month, so you lose the chance to get the Founder Badge. So instead, the badge should apply to all types of subscribing.
For example you find a new streamer, you want to sub to it but someone gifts you a sub before having the chance to do it. Later, they get over 10 subscribers so you lose the chance to have the founder badge (even though you were one of the first 10).
Hey all!
A bit late on the update here, but wanted to inform any who weren’t already aware that we did build this!
You can find more info here: https://help.twitch.tv/s/article/founders-badge
Receiving a gift subscription will qualify you for Founders Badge if the gifted sub is amongst the first 10 (for Affiliates) or first 25 (for Partners) Prime or paid subscriptions on the channel. The gifted recipient must choose to continue their gifted sub while there are still badges left to earn. If they do not choose to continue as a paid sub, their Founder Badge will be given to the next user in the queue.

I gifted someone a sub In hopes of 'saving' him a founders badge, since I knew he couldn't get one in time.

Can't you just disable gift benefits and then sub to get founders badge? I literally just did this yesterday.

I can confirm JDCrowbar's experience with gifted subs.
Immediately continue your gifted sub and you'll receive the founders status anyway.
(You still have to be one of the first 10 (25 for partners) subscribers of course) -

I just ruined my friends ability to get a founder badge because I wanted to gift him a sub for introducing me to a channel that just got affiliate.
Now if I sub, I get the Founders badge, and take away one of the chances of him getting it. That is even worse, please consider fixing this, or putting an alert that this will happen during the checkout. -

Honestly here is my idea... Anyone who pays for a sub within the first two months of the streamer being affiliate (or the first 10 no matter how long) then those people should get founding sub badges! That way if 2 people or 25 sub within the first 2 months, you get the founders badge! That way you get gifted in the first month you do not have to worry about it, just continue the sub then let it renew before the second month is up and then you have the badge then no worries either way!

I just continued my Sub before the 10 subs were up for affiliate and got my founders badge after about 11 mins.

This is a major issue. Twitch do something, this is really broken. You should be able to get the founder's badge when you resub in advance for the next month.
EDIT: I've been able to get the founders badge but I can't tell if it's by gifting a gift or by continuing in advance the gifted sub I've received. Not a lot of money to get a lifetime unique badge.

@DarkDegan @glassss what stops you from subbing with 9 alts then? This is not about specific, special situations like that.
Also, some streams get some sub bombs when they get the sub button and it might happen for some to be offline at that point so they can't subscribe by themselves.

How about give it a number one but with a different color? Indicating that it was a gifted sub, not a purchased sub. Or maybe even a number two instead of a number one. I think that way instead of only 10 people being able to have a special founders badge, 20 people will. It gives more incentive to gift subs knowing it'll be more meaningful.
Also, I do have to agree with @glassss. What if the person who receives a founders badge never comes back to the stream? I would hate to take that away from someone who's always active on stream. I believe my suggestion of having two different badges (#1 and #2 badges) would solve this problem.

This would honestly be a horrible idea.
It's all about people knowing how twitch works. The issue is, people do not. Gifting subs to a brand new channel before all the Founders badges are gone? Potato brain.
The issue with giving founder badges to gifted subs, gifted subs are anonymous, unless you specifically choose people. What if someone never decides to come back? You just wasted a badge. It also prevents someone from just gifting 9 subs to all their friends and screwing the rest of the world over from your channel.
If someone likes your channel, and knows you will hit affiliate soon, they will watch your channel when you are on, for as long as they can, cus once the founders badges are gone, they are gone. If someone really wanted a founders badge, they would be there when you got your button and wouldn't have to worry about getting a gifted sub.

I agree with TMGK. At the very least, continuing a gift sub should trigger founder if a gift sub by itself doesn't. I did a community gift sub bomb in a new affiliates channel to celebrate and a couple people hadn't arrived yet and were disappointed that they couldn't get the founder badge when they had intended to sub themselves. Continuing the gift sub and having that count as a founder would solve that scenario.

+1 A couple of good suggestions would be;
1. A new algorithm that detects when a gifted sub continues their gift subscription with a prime or paid sub to auto grant them founders, if the gifted sub was among the first 10 subscribers.
2. Increase the founder capacity to accommodate the sub gifted, who were among the first 10, while still having the original 10 subscribers a founder.
3. Perhaps founder status could be granted to the first consecutive 3 month subscribers? This would give enough time for sub-gifties to still get founders even if they were already gifted a sub, provided they were among the first 10 subscribers.
